Alabama Supreme Court decides that frozen embryos are “minor children” who have a right to life now. Chief Justice even quotes The Bible in his decision. In Alabama, frozen embryos MUST be brought to term. Destroying embryos or even letting them age out of the system once no longer needed/wanted can incure legal liability and perhaps even murder charges.

How can there be a murder charge when there is no body? A frozen embryo is about 120 microns in size. Ten of them in a row would be about a tenth of one millimeter in length.  If there is a power cut during a hurricane (an “Act of God”) and the freezer defrosts, will the management team be arrested for mass murder?

I guess, if God kills embryos (which he does all the time, actually), then it must be okay. Right?

    Fellow Unbelievers,

A good-sized sum of all fertilized eggs end up flushed down the toilet naturally and completely without a woman’s knowledge.

Are these fetus fetishists gonna have law enforcers sloshing around in sewers searching for zygotes and forcing women to “prove” that they didn’t premeditatedly (versus spontaneously) abort these zygotes?

Alabama’s I.V.F. ruling shows our slide toward Theocracy.

To those advancing these ideas, the will of God counts more than the will of the American people, even when Americans object or disagree.

It shows how retarded the progressives are sucking up to Islam. Instead of attacking ideas and showing how meretricious, fictitious and destructive it is you get called out for Islamophobia. I would not limit critical studies/criticism to Islam but presently it is the numero uno among the sleeps of reason. It is pig pile on the Jews which is always in season. Is it treason to protest the season?

No, but from now on anyone thinking of flushing had better think twice. Now, if two people working in a clinic have a falling out, one could go to the cops and say “I saw so-and-so destroy an embryo.”

We don’t have an official religion on the Federal level, but this shows it’s possible to have one on the state level, or at least in a courtroom.

Painting all Muslims with a broad brush IS Islamophobia, by definition. I was raised by parents who embodied all that was good about Christianity, so even though there are a lot of Christians doing and saying and believing terrible things, you won’t find me tslking about Christianity they way you talk about Islam.  I’ve gone to college with, worked with, and been treated well medically by Muslims who were good people. There is a range of belief and practice within Islam that a broad brush can’t recognize or express.

    Un see n arrow above.

Islamophobia is a relatively recent neologism. It is intended by Islamists who invented it to insulate from criticism both Islam and Muslims. Apparently its unseen shield against the antiseptic of any form of critique even the most anodyne is saturnine.

Had your personal experience with Christians been entirely negative then you would have examined the thing in itself? On other hand if you had been raised a Nazi that embodied all that was good about Nazism then you would not talk negatively about Nazism. Or could it be that your personal experience with Christians is irrelevant?

So people can be decent humans in spite of religion? To the extent they deviate from fundamentalism the odds improve. Unfortunately there is a range of belief and practice among the world’s largest death cult that is shocking to anyone who holds humanistic values.

We don’t have a cross concept for Christianityphobia. Christianity has had the shit criticized out of it. And when Christianity is under the microscope aint gonna hear how the viewer hates all Christians and is a bigot against individual Christians. But we all know Muslims will fucking kill your ass for a whole slew of Islamic no no’s. Or if you decide as a Muslim that you aint hanging with the rank and file. It is BS. Their values are shit. Their culture is shit. They create untold suffering and discrimination. Failing to call it out makes us complicit.

    @ Jake

When you say negative things about Islam and implicitly include any member of the faith that is a broad brush and an expression of Islamophobia. Now, based on the behavior of some Christians and some leaders and government proclaiming to act in its name, using your standard there probably should be a term “Christianophobia” or some similar formulation.

But by that standard perhaps there ought to be an “Atheistophobia,” too. Stalin took extreme steps to attempt to stamp out primarily Russian Orthodoxy and any other manifestations of Christianity and any other religion. Some will argue that Stalin wasn’t really an atheist, that he most likely was irreligious and that his antireligiosity was grounded in political needs and goals. One could fairly argue that the evidence, really, is that he was agnostic or areligious.

However, as the word “atheism” is most commonly used, it embraces irreligion and agnosticism. And I’ve come to learn that many here refer to themselves not as atheists but as agnostics or as simply being irreligious. In for a dime in for a dollar (or in for a penny in for a p0und to anyone from across the pond).

So, based on the practice of Communism since Stalin in and outside Russia/USSR, China, Cuba, and elsewhere, maybe atheists deserve to have a derogatory broad brush pained over them/us as well(?).

So, how extreme in their views are typical Muslims. Here is what Pew Research found:

As you can see, there is precious little difference between U.S. Muslims and the general population.

and implicitly include any member of the faith? There is 0 implication. None. That is how the propagandists/apologists and sundry progressive morons would have you think.

NO NO NO NO. There should be no equivalent term for Christianity. We all need freedom to criticize POWER!

Imposition of atheism by the state is not atheism. And it also naturally needs to be criticized. Need i mention the right wing morons who are aligned with Putin? Any and all dictatorships or communism are antithetical to progressive views or what ought to be progressive.

Comparison of theism to atheism is inapposite, obviously.

Not sure exactly what your chart is about. But you know damn well that Muslims are closer to medieval than modern in their views. Are they a monolith? Of course not. Never said it was. Obviously if it is Muslims in Toronto v. Muslims in Saudi there will be significant moderation of Islamic doctrine in the Canadian views.

    Unseen and Jake,

While it is rational to judge individuals by their thoughts, words, and deeds and not their accidents of birth–including their birthplace and it’s culture, it is never rational to make ideas and practices immune from scrutiny and criticism, and that includes the ideas and practices of religion.

I have heard the term “Christophobia” as well as “Islamophobia”, but they are both very nebulous. The terms could either mean persecution, enslavement, and murder of adherents to the religion, or the terms could mean mere disagreement with the religions.

In Matthew 12:30, Jesus Christ is quoted as saying: “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.”. So according to God Jr., mere disagreement is Anti-Christ and Anti-Christian.

Judging from the treatment of Non-Muslim Dhimmi and Kuffir in majority-Muslim and Islamic-ruled societies, mere disagreement with Islam is evidently taken as Islamophobic as well.

If this is what these terms mean, then all Atheists are persona non grata with anyone who uses these terms. How is any tolerance or civility possible on that basis?

Me, I just call both individuals and ideas as I see them, respect Individual Rights and expect respect for mine, and don’t let vague smear terms stop me.

It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault.

The tendency to link or conflate individuals with their force-fed beliefs so that to piss on the former is to calumniate the latter is a product of belief in free will.

It aint real man. Humans are ACTED ON. Nobody is home. Does anyone believe a human dancing the jig at a Christian lynching of a Black man or a participant in an auto da fe would not having been born today be a bleeding heart liberal or whatever and wherever their environment caused them to go?

Furthermore the notion that we are FREE to exercise the religion of our CHOICE is misleading at best. Therefore isn’t it time to attack all religion. Just examine it for what it is and what its impact has been and continues to be? Islamophobia supporters awaken.
