God’s will is nonsense because there is no God.
On the other hand, since I don’t believe in free will, I have to agree with Mr. Brooks to some extent but not to his benefit. I think we all do as we do based on the sensory inputs we’re getting, brain activity or which we have no control, and what we might call our nature, by which I mean ingrained attitudes and behaviors accumulated over a lifetime.
Brooks did what it was in his nature to do. He’s an angry and reckless person.
So did the jury members. All the considerations resulting in Brooks’ behavior is at work in theirs as well.
