According to someone who should know. No matter what you think of George Galloway, a dependable leftist, Col. Richard Black is nowhere to the left. His analysis is practical and realistic and his analysis is as damning as it is terrifying.

These old cold war guys think it’s still 1979. Russia is losing and Putler is literally crapping his pants. Putler isn’t playing the nuke card and mobilizing because he’s winning.

Russians don’t even bring home their dead. Well, why would they, most of them are criminals.

I haven’t a clue how accurate or tendentious this guy is. It is a major investment in time to ascertain wtf is reality in Ukraine. It is probably not as great a quagmire as Israel/Palestine conflict but it aint far behind. Everybody with an axe to grind. Everything is fucking biased. Facts? These are great conflicts to get one’s good guy/bad guy rocks off.

Meanwhile nothing fundamental is changing in civilization. Same old patterns. It is discouraging. Damn the rational considerations. Full speed ahead.

I watched a video of some Russian soldiers in a trench get blown to pieces, crawling around dragging bones and guts. This is what they get for decades of apathy. The Ukrainians already know how to jam the shitty Iranian drones that Russian had to order. Sad. There are also reports that Ukraine just hit Wagner’s HQ, unconfirmed. If Russia can’t win the hot war how the hell do they expect to occupy if they could win?

The other glaring thing is a complete lack of air superiority by the Russians. The US had a hard time operating in Iraq and Afghanistan with complete air superiority. Russians send choppers and jets up in ones and two and they get whacked by missiles.

    Unseen,

“Ukraine has lost the war, it just isn”t over yet”??? 🤔

Where the Hell does this guy with a chicken on his shoulder get his metrics?

The Babushka Doll hasn’t sang yet, so it’s not over yet. Though there are a lot of Babushka Dolls crying both in combat and on the home front.

And this Colonel would have locked up people and figured out charges later??? This is why the Military needs a tight leach under civilian law.

And this war is supposed to help the U.S. “keep the locks on the energy markets”? What “locks”??? We’re begging the Saudis and Iran to keep the oil flowing because we’ve shut down our own pipelines and we’re dipping into Strategic Reserves!

And this Colonel is cheering Putin using drones to knock out Ukrainian electrical and water utilities and electric trains for transporting arms? Doesn’t he know this also knocks out the civilian economy and systems of life support? Doesn’t he know this is a War Crime?

This guy doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about! Get back to your darts at the VFW, Colonel Black, you old fart! And don’t you dare pull that shit on U.S. civilians or expect some big resistance from Veterans who know more than you ever seen from your cloistered War Rooms!

At around 36.10 in the following viddy another interesting and not very optimistic discussion with another military expert begins.

He says for every Russian killed between 8 and 10 Ukrainian fighters is killed. Obviously, a country of 150 million can sustain such losses much longer than a country of 40 million.

Right. What a moron. “Redacted”, LOL

The US official casualty count by the US Joint Chiefs of Staff is about 1:1, 100K each. Given that Russia is supposed to be the 2nd largest military power in the world, they suck.

    Jake,

    That is racist!

Funny, I didn’t think old duffers who are Smedley Butler wanna-bes at best or propagandists for hostile foreign powers at worst were a “protected class” or a “race.”

If they are, you got me. I am, as the kids nowadays say, a “hater.” 😁

So, you view a government source of information to be reliable…in wartime? OK…

“The most senior US general estimates that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured in the war in Ukraine.”

Given the vast difference in population size between Russia and Ukraine, which side do you think is likely to run out of cannon fodder first, Robert? And that’s soldiers, only one side is losing civilians.

You refer to a government (and, worse, military) source as evidence when…

They said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
They told us that we were winning in Afghanistan.
They told us that we were winning in Vietnam.

And from the administrations at various times…

They told us that NATO would be disbanded after the fall of the USSR.
They told us that Japanese-Americans were a security threat (why not German-Americans?)
They told us that nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary.
They are constantly interfering in other countries’ affairs but deny doing so.

    Really?

And our so-called “reliable sources” (NY Times, WashPo, NPR, AP, Reuters, etc.) nowadays do little more than simply pass along government propaganda.

It’s an open question whether this war in Ukraine would even be happening without the open provocation of Russia by NATO which sits, militarily, right across most of Russia’s Western borders, constantly threatening Russia with war “games” and other exercises.

I will take those numbers over some old right-wing nut podcast sitting in his living room any day. Because Russia isn’t moving, are they? That is all I need to know. Their soldiers are poorly untrained drunk ass draftees, and they got nothing to fight for. Their morale sucks. Their gear sucks, their leadership sucks and the Russian population is gonna finally catch on. Putin has a foot in the grave.

And yeah, the US was winning all of her stupid wars, numbers wise, the same false argument you are using to say Russia is winning. And the US had air superiority, well trained pro army, tons of the world’s best equipment and look what happened,

    UK’s estimates

I also wonder why anyone would talk supportively about an authoritarian dictator’s attack on a struggling democracy; targeting cities and residential areas and murdering people that did nothing but try to live freely.
