We need a Middle Eastern mulligan

There is an obvious solution to the current blow up between Hamas and Israel, but you probably won’t like it. It’s to do again what created the problem in the first place, only better this time.

The problem was created when the Christian victors of WW2 gave mostly European Jews a hunk of land Palestinian Muslims called home. What could go wrong?

The solution is obvious. A do over. A “mulligan,” where a New Israel is created, not in Muslim territory but in Christian territory. Someplace without a lot of people to turn  terrorist against them like, oh, Northern Canada, though the thought of Hasidic lumberjacks kind of makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

How about a big hunk of Nevada, including Las Vegas? While it would lack a coastline, Sacramento and Los Angeles are not very far off.

We in the West created the fucking problem. We should fucking solve it.

Now, Israel may object but, Hell, we created their country without consulting with the people who lived there. We can do it again, only better this time.

But i don’t sign onto conflating Jew with religion. That is a slander. Jews are about as distinct an ethnic group as one can find. Perhaps there are a few tribes and perhaps Aborigines who are similarly or more distinct. IDK. But know other people have one word that means culture, religion and ethnicity/race.

Ah, but even that is problematic. The Pentecostal, Evangelicals, and Southern Baptists who brought Prohibitionism to the U.S.–as well as the Muslims–would all throw a bitch-fit.

Jews are distinct because they don’t often intermarry other religions. This is nothing to be proud of. Thanks, you made my point. Racism is the excuse religions made up to blame something else for all the division they cause in the world. Africans were soulless savages that needed Christians to save them (by enslaving them first). Catholics and Protestant Irishmen killing each other in the streets. Shiite kills the Sunni, and Muslim Pakistani kills the Hindu Indian. This is not racism. This is religion.

“Jew” is a word so broadly used to be virtually meaningless. First,  Ashkenazi Jews come from Eastern Europe, Germany, and France, while Sephardic Jews are from Spain, Portugal, Africa, and the Middle East. There’s two types of Jews right there. Then, in Israel you have the Haredin 9%, Datiin 13%, Misortim 29%, Hilonim (including agnostics and atheists) 49%, and about 1% of “others.” Then, I think being a native vs. nonnative Jew is probably a distinction that means something significant in Israel as well.

I’ve had “Jewish” friends who ate pork and loved shrimp and lobster and others who were never without their yarmulkas, kept the Sabbath, celebrated the holy days, etc.

What is a “Jew”? Hard to say. “Israelite” probably means a lot more.

You are wrong about Jews not marrying non Jews aka gentiles or goyem. Lots of Christians have learned through dna companies that they are descendants of Christ Killers. American Jews often have non Jewish spouses. It is religion that has sewn the hatred that has made Jews a distinct ethnic group. Probably true of Gypsies or Roma as well. In a free society without the hatred of Jews…Jews get around. Wink wink. In Germany before the holocaust and from their entry into Germany Jews desperately tried to assimilate. But the hatred and envy of Jews who so often excelled compared to the average German and the different ethnicity and religion were barriers.

I have noticed many things over my life from childhood and have been vindicated in my thoughts. Conflating a group’s ethnicity, dominant religion and culture is a smear tactic. It goes unnoticed i assume by the great majority. We are always careful to point out that Muslims have a religion and no common ethnicity. Accord Jews the same respect. We are not a monolith. Practitioners of Judaism have a religion and do not necessarily share ethnicity. Remember how that stupid actor Ben Affleck engaged Sam Harris and accused him of racism? The point you made for me is that the Jewish religion (as well as it’s child religions of christianity and islam) is the true driver for division, not some ‘independent’ aspects of culture, if there are any. Let’s take a look at “the promised land”. What kind of secular Jewish tradition is that? A fake god made a fake promise to the fake chosen people, and now we have this bloody mess in “the holy land”. It’s a prophesy and the Christians who share the same verse were glad to help it along.  No, there won’t be some Jewish nation in the American southwest as unseen suggests. You have fundie Jews building illegal settlements all over Palestine because ‘god’. Now the swords of Mohammad and David are back at it, and horrible human suffering is unleashed once again.

Look at all the hate for gay people. Is that racism? No, that is pure, unadulterated religion. It is so inherent in our various cultures that we can’t even see it is the root of all violence and hate. It is embedded in our language, our customs, our supposedly secular ceremonies and therefore gets the free pass as being basically a good thing when the violent truth is right in front of us.

The religious leaders preach hate once a week and then sit back and watch the slaughter.
