    @Enco

    Raising the age for buying long guns to 21 seems a reasonable step to at least try to prevent school massacres seems reasonable when you consider that most of the time, the shooters are in the 18-20 range.

    If you can reply saliently and briefly in 1,000 words or less, it’d be appreciated.

    Bearing in mind that digression is the oxygen of intelligence and bearing arms is becoming a stale topic how is it that dopers are skinny? I want to eat like three horses and a Naked and Afraid contestant when i partake.

    I guess addicts don’t eat too well so they remain skinny

    So data on marijuana kind of lags cuz of the unjust anti-libertarian criminalization of it. From my cursory perusal of various articles it appears that marijuana was initially thought to be a tremendous boon for cancer patients both in treating nausea and diminished appetite. More recently it appears that marijuana is not quite as good at appetite stimulation for cancer patients as some prescription or other.

    On the other hand from a number of studies the totally counterintuitive for anyone who has felt ravenous after using it- helps lose weight. I should not use the word addicts though. Just regular users. Not sure if the “ya can’t get addicted to it” mantra is current thinking. But imagine if it were advertised and substantiated by legit studies how people can use regularly, eat more, and either lose or maintain weight? How pissar is that?

    I have been a regular user of weed for about 40 years. I have never known anyone to be addicted to it. Granted there are people who have some degree of psychological addiction to it but that is just because they think they have. It’s all in their head. They have unresolved issues that need to be resolved. However, being stoned does not hide you from reality in the way Prozac or alcohol does. It is impossible to lie to yourself or to hid from yourself (your unconscious mind does not tolerate your own BS). I don’t smoke it to be sociable. It is a “just for me” experience or sometimes a “just for two” experience.

    You need to learn the different effects that different strains can give you. THC content is very important and for some it’s all about the “terps”. I have a small interest in a farm in Northern CA and we once produced a strain which was tested in the lab at 34% THC. We are also looking to partner with a University research team who want to investigate the effects of various strains and to see what medicinal use of cannabinoids can be discovered. It is a new area of research because previously it would have been illegal. There is a possibility of valuable properties to be discovered that we could patent.

    If you want to flop on the couch and watch a movie then don’t smoke an “up and at it” strain that makes you jittery if you are not moving. Some people mistake this for paranoia. Instead, you should have a mellow strain.

    But the most important thing is dealing with ‘The Munchies’. It is caused by the THC and other compounds reacting with your endocannabinoid system (we all have such a system and it is a huge area of study) to enhance your appetite. Junk food is often the go to option as it can be sweet and sugary and quickly consumed. Before I smoke, I always have some fresh OJ ready in the fridge. That often is enough as I will also be sure to have eaten a meal beforehand. I usually have a bowl of veg curry in the crock pot so that can also be attacked. Sometimes Ben and Jerry turn up but never stay too long.  Spotify is a great addition to the cause. Never know what Alexa and I might discover like this or this (the latter at volume 11). As a rule, “sober Reg” looks after “stoned Reg” in advance of me getting there😊 I take regular 3 week breaks so all my tolerance is zeroed.

    Sorry if this post is a bit of a ramble but I am very hungry.  Here is another version of that song.

    You probably did, but just can’t remember due to the reefer madness.

    Thanks for that bramble ramble Reg. Some good info too cuz i had no clue that any form of THC or cannabinoid could give energy. I’ve only experienced mellowocity and heightened senses. Never thought of it as something to take before a long hike or an arduous one. In fact my fear of harming my lungs which i have worked so hard on is a deterrent to usage. On balance it is an amazing drug with incredible properties notwithstanding some recent data that is on the negative side. And when ya reduce life to the basics it kind of comes down to how we feel. Sometimes just listening to music, doping on dope, even something banal like washing dishes or having a conversation is enhanced ten fold. It is pretty wild.

    And here is something else that is pretty wild. Seems to be a potential breakthrough in treating cancer.

    Link did not work. It is a trial in which 18 stage four cancer patients with rectal cancer got an immunosuppressant for 6 months. All 18 in remission. No chemo, no surgery, no radiation. It may also work on prostate, breast and another 6 or so forms of cancer. No idea what the process is going through FDA.

    Some of the people over in Joe’s place did get freaky after a while because once you get there you can stay all day if you want to.

    Microdosing psilocybin also has potential beneficial effects on mental state, productivity, and may help alleviate symptoms of certain mood disorders. I had been tempted to try it (supposedly a legal grey area here although I am not too confident in that), but I just don’t have the money for it right now.

    Maybe the war on drugs was fought backwards. We were using guns go after drug-related activity, when maybe drugs could have helped us take the edge off of gun-related activity. (Well, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch).

    We need to get more guns to fight back. If I had to guess, magnetism is probably some form of socialism. Also, and I’m not sure how, but compulsory schooling is also probably somehow to blame in all this.
