At present, you may add your own posts to this topic, or create a separate topic in this group, but I may edit or move it during our long-term process of curating topics and topic lists.

Think of where your post might fit in a short-term vs long-term context, e.g. short-term exciting or emotional news (“EMOTIONALLY EVOCATIVE STORY, ALL IN UPPER CASE!!”) vs longer-term, investigative and evidence-base stories that can become future, indexed references.

Starting with the best and most obvious, here at AZ:

Friendly atheist isn’t bad but at the same time it doesn’t have the friendliest vibe especially towards Christians curious about what atheism is all about. All the headlines this week have been what stupid evangelicals spoke out of their batshit insane mouths. There’s not much substance there. Nothing that really provokes thoughtfulness, truly attacks their beliefs or shows the friendlier side of atheism. Though he does smile in his videos.

…doesn’t have the friendliest vibe especially towards Christians…

I can’t fault that too much. I have about had it with the local army of moronic xtians around here.

Don’t get me wrong. I have little patience for nutcase evangelical Christians. But the vibe pretty much goes against the whole idea that its a friendly atheist. It’s mostly just pointing out crazy provocative stupid shit the super stupid do and say. And that…isn’t going to do much to theists visiting perhaps under the guise that they’re entering a “friendly” space. It’s not really.

I have to admit, I said I like that source without having been there for a while. I think I like Hemant Mehta’s pov, but honestly haven’t followed him recently. Mea culpa!

Because my desire includes attracting outsiders, including religionists who may be ready to open their minds to a viable option. While appreciating members regardless of their pov. I’d say freedom and tolerance is my mantra, but not for the “intolerant”, e.g. theocracies and their supporters; and except for theocratic tendencies in governments like the “righteousness” we’re seeing most recently in USA.

I have followed Hemant for a good few years, since he sold his soul on eBay.
