When I hear Christians say that we atheists choose not to believe in (their) god, I know their explanation for this will show how unreasoned their understanding of atheism is. Sometimes this lack of understanding can lead the deluded mind to spout vulgar nonsense. On a larger scale some regimes use religion to compensate for their lack of electoral support and this often means atheists end up being targets of persecution. Being an atheist in a Muslim country is not easy. Imagine being an atheist in a country that would pass a bill to politicize churches and where those doing the discrimination consider themselves to be victims.
It is because of centuries of religious dogma that theists misunderstand atheism.
Some schools in England may be breaking the law by not indoctrinating their students. Maybe they would learn more about the gods by playing video games!!
