Vaccine rates are well below average in the ultra-orthodox communities at about 77% and they are closely grouped the risks of measles spreading is higher. Herd immunity should be 95% or greater. Similar numbers in the US this year too. Gaines County in West Texas really suffered. Two children in Texas (unvaccinated, no underlying conditions) died of measles already this year.

Biggest surprise to me, since Kennedy doesn’t surprise me anymore, is that Measles infections in Canada is now approaching (unless it’s higher this week) 5000! And their population is what, about 10% of USA’s?

Thank you both for your uncomforting but forthright answers.

In this situation, the old stereotype saw of “Two Jews, three viewpoints” could easily mean “Two Jews, no viewpoint” if they both die from not being immunized.

Pictures of children afflicted by Measles and descriptions of the disease and its effects are heartbreaking. Why anyone would be oblivious to stopping that suffering and death is inconceivable.

Secular Jews and others informed by reason and science need to spread the wisdom of vaccination by long-distance bullhorns to the Ultra-Orthodoxers.

There is nothing Antisemitic, Anti-Israel, or Anti-anyone else about saving lives from disease, in fact the reverse is true. Communicable diseases do not racially or religiously discriminate, though they can kill as surely as bigotry.

The stakes are even higher. The Jerusalem Post article I cited said that the Measles rate in Israel due to the methodology of accounting used could be much greater that 1700 and could be as much as 5000.

In a nation the size of New Jersey with a population of around 9,842,000, that could be even more devastating. And since there is increased travel with activism between U.S. Canada, Mexico, and Israel, if vaccination requirements for travel ever let up (a greater likelihood with illegal immigration in North America,) we could all have a stewing mess of MMR, screwworms, and worse.

Kennedy and Trump showed themselves to be quack-non-Doctors for two reasons. One, they attributed Autism to Tylenol and circumcision without citing evidence.

Two, they also did not criticize circumcision for perfectly valid evidence-based reasons i.e. that circumcision is unnecessary for hygiene, does not prevent HIV/AIDS, STIs, HPV, UTI, cervical/penile cancers, etc. and to respect bodily autonomy circumcision should be reserved for consenting adults not non-consenting children.

An added note: Opposing circumcision is not Anti-Jewish, Anti-Muslim, or Anti-Christian, since circumcision existed since as far back as Paleolithic times and predated the Abrahamic religions by thousands of years.

I couldn’t afford anything that would slake Trump’s appetites or anything on Qatar’s entries in Trump’s gift registry. My thought was more along the lines using Amendment 25 on Trump, then wash, rinse, and repeat with Vance and the entire Cabinet until MAGA is completely out.

I know it’s about like political homeopathy, but a guy can dream, right?

Yes, eventual betrayal by Trump is a forgone conclusion. Trump gets a 747 and Jihadists get a mil base.
