@robert “Evil” is defined in different ways in different times, places, and communities. In Sparta, for example, it wasn’t evil to murder deformed or weak babies. Even today, is abortion evil? Depends who you ask, doesn’t it?
Evil in the context of a “loving, all powerful god” is all and any suffering that he could easily prevent…[Read more]

@robert I wouldn’t classify JP as an atheist. I didn’t see the Sam Harris one I’ll have to watch that. I guess I view him completely differently because i watched his lectures so I understand the framework from where he’s coming and there are many things I took away from his lectures that I still use and remember to this day. I…

Getting closer to that all the time. I saw some video of Ohio Nazis today, walking down a busy street with swastika flags, shouting racial obscenities.
I’ve been seeing shit like that too, it’s really scary. I’m really sad that my intuition about all this was right, I knew Trump was going to be the antichrist 😂

The human race has de-evolved so much since the COVID 19 plague that now I find myself uncaring about events. Just living day to day and avoiding “the news” and focus on family, health, art, music and happiness.
I hear you! I feel the same way. The only thing I am focused on is getting my son raised. Keeping him alive with the dan…[Read more]

I’m less concerned by men who get defensive over the above, and more by the general slowness in tackling rape culture in general.
I don’t seem to come across it much. Andrew Tate is the patron saint of rape culture. It was @robert who said that rape culture is a spectrum of behaviour from mild to severe, and thi…

@Robert – The need to cooperate is where expectations of behavior come from.
True. As it was from Day 1 so that we could make it to Day 2.
I recently explained to a student of psychology that he will only “get us” when he views human problem from an evolutionary perspective. Forget about the Woo, the Spirituality and bogus self-help books. Strip…[Read more]

@Robert – In my head I have Black Francis and Trent Reznor in the same space. Not all the time but I think their creativity and vocal techniques overlap. You don’t get them unless you spend the time listening closely to them. You also have to be a very good musician and understand more than just the rudiments of music to play music like that. It…[Read more]

@Robert – When a friend of mine was in hospital for a minor procedure I went to visit him. I asked him “Will I slaughter a goat as an offering for you?” He replied “Could you offer up some carrots instead as I am off the fatty foods for a while”. “No problem, I will boil them in holy water”. That was over 15 years ago. He ran a 10K in 39 minutes…[Read more]

Interesting, a dead god. The Norse also worshipped mortal gods many of whom will die at Ragnarok. In fact, the course of Ragnarok is laid out in detail. Which ones live and which ones die along with how they die. So, they believe in Fate, predestination, predeterminism.

My “one that got away” would probably be thought of as a bit chubby by many. Her main attraction was her personality. She was the nicest girl I ever met and being with her was just…easy.

Despite the grossly lopsided GDPs of Russia vs. America and the NATO combined GDP, the war in Ukraine is far from over. It’s so desperate now that the U.S. is resorting to weapons most countries regard as a war crime. And the reason just given by Biden is that we are running out of nice weapons, so we’re resorting to using a weapon so…[Read more]

Almost too much there to respond to. Let’s start with this. I’ll answer more as I get time, unless you keep posting, but I see there are other posts by other people wanting to hear from me.
I’m going to set WW1 aside because I know much less about it beyond how The Great War started stupidly with a bungled assassination. We wisely…[Read more]

@Robert and Jake
Luckily for us, Muslims tend to assimilate pretty well in the U.S., able to find work, buy homes, and enjoy the American way of life about as well as Christians. Of course, like Jews and Asians, they do suffer a degree of harassment from idiots who assume every Muslim is wearing a suicide vest.
The proof of successful…[Read more]

It was mainly the elderly and people with compromised immune systems who died of Covid, and it turned out that not only didn’t vaccination save many lives among the rest of the population, but it didn’t prevent one from becoming reinfected or becoming an asymptomatic carrier, did it? @robert Did you watch the interview? Not Pakman’s, the one in the top post. I think he makes some great points.
Yeah, and his so-called “good points” are all garbage that could have all been addressed by a real scientist or two. Instead he assembles an echo chamber of freaks. Here is what happened to thousands of people who bought i…[Read more]
