And none of them are located in an area where you would want to stay parked any length of time, let alone overnight. And California is no model for anything, with rolling blackouts, plus riots, mud-slides, fires, and incompetent emergency response to destroy utility access. And the New Urbanism approach of cramming people into high-density cities…[Read more]

Robert,
Every time humans do work (aka move things or themselves) there is an environmental heat cost. Even walking down the street results in greenhouse gases. So, sure you can shoot holes in any transportation method. Perhaps you do know better than the majority of environmental/energy/climate scientists. However, internet is chock full of the…

Robert,
It’s the scientific consensus. As usual, I defer to the best experts I can find, such as the EPA.
The EPA page assumes falsely that wind and solar can provide enough electricity for the nations entire power needs, let alone electric vehicles, even with all the Kennedys and other Eco-Wackos opposing the wind f…

I wonder when/if there will be a standard charging connector across all brands. I don’t see ecars really taking off until there are plenty of charging locations and you can charge your car wherever you find one and not just a location or station that services just one brand of car.
Or, if the industry put their heads together and instituted a…[Read more]

Seaside, Florida, is a pioneering example of New Urbanism, designed to create a walkable, community-focused environment with traditional town elements and a focus on pedestrian and bicycle traffic over cars. It is set up like spokes on a wheel, with a shopping area at the center. You can easily walk to shop, dine, or go to the beach.
Trouble is,…[Read more]

When Trump starts talking science, I know we are about to hear words of wisdom from a stable genius. No one else has such complete grasp of astrophysics, medical science, chemistry, mechanics, electronics, particle physics…..I could go on, the list is long. Just give the man the Nobel Peace Prize already, I am sure he thinks he deserves it. Oh,…[Read more]

Robert,
The environmental benefits of electric cars are favorable even after mining and processing the materials for EV batteries, such as lithium and cobalt, the impacts are generally considered to be less than with the extraction and refining of fossil fuels. This assumes that the power companies burn less and less…

Reg,
The Ethylene Glycol used to convert Carbon Dioxide into fuel is itself a by-product of coal burning and requires energy to perform the chemical process. Also, since it is a coolant, it would draw heat and that heat would no doubt deteriorate machinery and materials and could inflame the fuel prematurely. It is also a hazard to the kidneys…[Read more]

Reg,
Orange Man spoke truth on this one year ago, but of course doesn’t act accordingly now.
Lithium batteries also only work well when within a certain temperature and humidity range. Too low or too high and they don’t produce power, they expand, explode, and create fires. In the past couple of years, electric car drivers found out their…[Read more]

It’s just sweet when people vote with their wallets. Trump has been trash-talking electric cars for years, so this Musk/Trump “partnership” is bullshit from the beginning. It will be even more fun as these aluminum framed/steel skinned “bulletproof”, cyber-“trucks” begin to fatigue. Well, not really bullet proof either. I inherited a few WW2…[Read more]

@Enco – having driven both the Model Y and the ID4, I am happy to keep my old BMW V8. (The E39, if that does it for you!)
V8s made by free people are always the smoothest rides.
Alas, BMW didn’t make any during the war, though. Back then, their specialty as stoolies for the Reich was war planes for the Luftwaffe made by slave labor. B…[Read more]

@Jakelafort – glad you liked the video. I would recommend David McRaney’s book too. I have used his ‘technique’ in debates over the last year with some positive results. It helped to fine tune some of my own approaches.

“Those people aren’t attacking Tesla dealerships. They are tourists showing love. I learned that on January 6th 2021” – FaceBook meme.
The memes should read: “We were for him before we were against him”. Or perhaps: “We have to burn them before we find out what’s in them”.

By the way, Underwriter’s Laboratories was founded in 1894, 131 years ago. Hardly a short-term quarterly-obsessed business. Nor is anyone using their testing. People who like profit want things that work.
