Second, I will say this. Nature, evolution, predisposes us to thrive. The reason is that thriving makes reproduction more likely. We can help ourselves to thrive by taking certain actions, such as helping ourselves, being compassionate towards ourselves, making the most of things, etc. What we do for ourselves we can do for others, and this is the essence of religious morality.
