Terrifying because it’s virtually impossible to defend against. Send a swarm of drones out each one keyed in on a target on an ordered list of targets, one of them the main target. Because they hive-mindedly communicate with each other and are executing a program, if the drone which had the main target gets taken out, one of the other drones drops its target and takes on the main one. Since it’s virtually impossible to take all of them out, that the main target will be destroyed is a virtual certainty.
