Today is my 5th Surgerversary. Five years ago today I underwent removal of a 10.5 cm sarcoma, most of my stomach and some liver. Time flies! Life was not the same afterwards, but I feel very fortunate for the great health care, advances in science and medicine that got me this far, family and friend support, some luck along the way and the chance to have earned the medical coverage and pension that keep me going now. Fifteen years ago, this cancer was incurable, prognosis was grim, and life expectancy was short, but here we are today!
