Put another way, can the downward spiral of the planet’s entire ecosystem—the warming of the planet, the polluting of the ocean with plastics and waste chemicals—possibly be reversed without excluding the solution from Democratic tampering.
Can it be accomplished without a global authoritarianism?
Look around you, while the United States is an extreme example, it’s true everywhere that as long as countries are democratic, their commitment to fixing the planet is tenuous and temporary with short term results and consequences dictating policy rather than the wisdom of looking ahead and taking note of the long-term consequences of inaction.
Is democracy itself perhaps the largest stumbling block to fixing our dying planet?
