Well well well another disasterous year for Ken Ham (the scam) and his Ark Encounter.

in july, it finished its 9th year and racked up 677K visitors, making it its 7th highest since opening.

Original estimates were 1.4M its first year and a modest 4% increase every year, but in reality it never even hit a million, and its 677K number isnt even 1/3 of what their original estimates were for this time. And dont forget an all wooden structure doesnt age well take it from a lifelong woodworker the maintenance costs in the future are going to be astronomical.

News about the lark with the Ark in the park is always a source of happiness for me. I still think about this headline every so often:

Kentucky Noah’s Ark sues insurance company over damage caused by heavy rains.

    Reg and John Kovacich:

This scene from the series Firefly always comes to mind whenever Ken Ham-Hands makes the news:

Does Ken and his ark crew not believe in using tickets to tabulate visits?

Don’t be a stranger, John. Feel free to chip in more stories. We aren’t omniscient, you know.

I had a similar ‘tug-of-war’ with an election official once. I asked him “Why is the Bible on display on all the tables in the polling booth” (in Ireland). He gave me some bs about it being official policy based on the Constitution and demanded it back.

I then told him it was only half a bible because it was only ‘ The NT’ but was still 100% illegal. I held it on my fist with my thumb on top and he tried to pull it way from me. When I found the “sweet spot” I let it go and he went stumbling back into his chair and fell over. Then I started a national campaign and got all bibles removed from all voting centers forever! I now bless myself and squeeze my crotch ever time I vote and he is the invigilator.

    Reg:

Where was this campaign of yours in the U.S.A. or the old country of Erin?

I wouldn’t have torn poor Shepherd’s copy of The Holy Bible, but I would put a single bookmark in it referencing the Web Site for:

The Skeptic’s Annotated Bible/Qu’ran/Book of Mormon
    https://skepticsannotatedbible.com/

Yep, one of the greatest Gorram Web Site’s from Earth-That-Was, to use the jargon and lingo of the Firefly and Serenity Universe. (Just think English and Mandarin Chi-knee with a Western Cowboy drawl. An older DVD of the show and movie will actually translate for you on Closed Captioning.)

A hologram of Sam Harris’s line of Biblical contradictions would also make a great light show on the walls of Shepherd’s quarters too.

It was in Ireland about 10 years ago. I will write the story later. No Bibles were destroy in the make of that story 🙂 But I did leave a cop needing therapy 🙂
