That seems more or less axiomatic. Intentions are the lynchpin of legal and moral analysis.

However if a person’s intentions are good but misguided as in the case of an inveterate gambling degenerate who struts into the race track with confidence and optimism risking the mortgage money and expecting to quadruple it to take his haggard wife on a vacation to the French Alps then the consequences are fair game…i guess…
