On FB and i am only there cuz an old GF started a page it is the absolute norm for people conversing privately to have the conversation end when one decides to call it quits and without letting the other side know. At first i thought it was just thoughtless rude individuals. Then i realized it was monkeys doing unto other monkeys as they had been done.

Based on your hypothetical and without offering an opinion as to ethical system it is just plain WRONG. It is several steps beyond rudeness.
