    A few days ago, top secret documents were revealed. It was mainstream journalists who all but put handcuffs on the source. Have they all but forgotten what the role of journalism is and what journalistic ethics call for?

    A true journalist, having discovered the source, would have made it a story about what was in the revealed documents and also about the obvious holes in the military’s methods for keeping secrets. Instead, they did the Pentagon’s work for them and narc’ed on the kid.

    That’s how real journalists like Woodward, Bernstein, and Hersh would have done it.

    Who did it is a news story.  The BBC went into a long discussion about the contents of the leak, how embarrassing it is for the US and their inability to keep secrets, etc., etc.  They covered all the angles.
