    Wow. Only 500 million years. Time for the planet to cool down and spark up life! Also…autotrophic. I had never heard of chemoautotrophs before, creating their own energy without light!

    This is at the bottom of the article:-

    “Editor’s note: The publish date on this story was originally incorrectly stated as Jan. 20, 2014, due to a technical glitch. In fact, it was published on Sept. 27, 2017, after the embargo on the paper was lifted.”

    I now want to know why there was an embargo on the paper.  And why.  And for three years?  Wow!

    Sometimes academic papers are under embargo from the press until they are peer-reviewed and verified.
