    R’men,
Does anyone know if the church of FSM is recognized as a religion by the state of PA, or HUD?
My apt building (subsidized by HUD) is allowing a ‘bible study’ every Monday. In the public meeting room.
I want to challenge this by asking to hold a pastafairian meet on Fridays.
    I expect to be refused.

@unapologetic  – Unfortunately FSM is not a recognized religion in the USA. However there is nothing wrong with dressing up in a pirate custom and playing “God hates us all” (released just before 9/11) on your headphones (or not) while scoffing a plate of tasty Ramen. I am ordained Minister with several years experience of engaging in Spaghetti Dinners in the public space and have a membership card to prove my ministerial credentials.  I have done similar on a few occasions. I have cleared a few car parks of Christians displaying their piety and humility in public, let me tell you, with that song!! 🙂 🙂 Praised Be His Noodly Appendages!

    Unapologetic,

If your apartment complex accepts Section 8 vouchers, I would devote my efforts to saving what country folks call “pin money” and “butter-‘n’-egg money” and getting the Hell out of there!

Every place that goes Section 8 that I’ve seen turns into a revolving-door managed, dilapidated, litter-filled, neglected, crime-filled war zone! It’s so bad, I’ve seen apartment complexes advertise “No Section 8s” as a fringe benefit.

As for the Bible study in the meeting room, don’t sweat it. If that place takes Section 8, they literally haven’t got a prayer. 😁

    Thanks Reg

    What do you mean?

This is a small town. No crime here. But all the rest is true.

I’m the biggest criminal here. I’ve got two ‘lease violations’ against me. Soliciting (I tried to start a newsletter). Running a business (I offered to make copies for people for a nickel per copy). My real crime was talking back to the manager when she falsely accused me of smoking in my apartment.

It means once a place goes Section 8, all the prayer in the world can’t make it better.

All the more reason to move out. The place allows Bible meetings while taking Uncle Sugar subsidies, yet punishes you for entrepreneural initiative and slanders you with false accusations??? To nonexistent Hell with them!

The Flying Spaghetti Monster would be blasphemed if his followers set up shop in such an awful place! Doing better for yourself and getting a better home is the best revenge. It may be harder nowadays, but it’s worth having your independence.

Sorry  Reg. I hate bands like Slayer who shout the lyrics. All I could make out was the choirs “god hates us all”.

While searching for that vid, I found this:

The disclaimer at the end (small print) says it’s not endorsed and the voice is computer generated.

Yeah, I’m looking. But around here waiting lists are years long. Without being able to threaten legal action, I can’t risk being put out on the street for rabble rousing. I’m hoping this manager gets replaced. (she’s the third since I’ve been here)

I don’t know why the above Slayer links say “video unavailable”, but the following working link looks like it’s been around for ten years. (I hope we’re not jinxing the links.)

I hate bands like Slayer who shout the lyrics.

I’m not a fan, either, but sometimes I listen to see if I can feel some kind of spark, or learn why others like it. I generally don’t like Sopranos, either. Mezzo Sopranos I like, sometimes.

Jeebus Father, I forgot how preachy you can get. I’ve known vets in Section 8, and haven’t seen what you’re claiming as fact.

I’ve known vets in Section 8,

    🙂    That’s a different ‘Section 8’

Military ‘Section 8’ is a reason for a psychological discharge.

HUD (department of Housing and Urban Development) ‘Section 8’ is a subsidy program to help the poor.   Landlords tend to pocket the cash they get from the government and let the property get run down, then blame the tenants. Landlords don’t listen to your complaints cus they don’t get much money directly from you. The VA equivalent is called HUD-VASH.

Thanks, Beanie, for the subtitled version.

You are correct. But I was actually referring to the HUD-VASH kind of Section 8. And HUD vs HUD-VASH housing are often in the same housing complex, as contracts for both are often initiated and admistrated by the same authority, e.g. by the city or county housing department.

    Unapologetic and PopeBeanie,

Section 8 HUD, Section 8 Military…it’s all crazy.
    😁
