On Thanksgiving Day last year, I went for a 10K run along a stretch of coast in Florida. I tripped on a raised piece of kerb and as I was starting to fall, I thought to myself, “Man, if this goes badly, I am glad that I took out travel insurance that covered running as an activity”. I managed to balance myself and kept running. I spoke about it afterwards to family and some visiting neighbors and heard nothing but what I can only call “horror stories”. Everyone had one and all were very angry about “surprise billing”.
I read a good letter in the Irish Times today with this line: “his conscience is not his guide but his accomplice’ which could be an appropriate definition of some of the people in the medical business (as opposed to medical caregivers).
