Described concisely, I am what Cage affectionately described as “a student of the school from which we’ll never graduate.” Autodidact. Self-made scholar. Cultural custodian. Linguaphile. Social misfit. Bohemian. Dissident. Skeptic. I’m an INTJ with a soft spot for emotive Bradburian and mischievous Joycean language.

A friend has described me as “a Muppet pinata of trivia and usefulness,” particularly with regard to music. Should a day come when the fate of humanity hangs in the balance contingent upon our knowledge of the works of Dutch composer, Dick Raaymakers… I shall spring into action.

I work by day in IT, but when the moon rises I transform into wild music journalist.

My present aim is to expand my social circle and forge new and lasting relationships. I’m interested in cultivating inspiring discussions with peers who prefer in-depth conversation to idle small talk. As Eleanor Roosevelt famously said, “Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.”

Perhaps the most revealing thing about me is the artistic/musical period with which I align myself – the post-minimalist modern classical movement. It is a pendulumic reactionary counterpoint to the mathematical elegance of minimalism, balancing its cerebral “music as a gradual process” precision with elements of natural, organic gentleness and expressiveness.
These works are thoughtful, highly contemplative, and provide a spectacular sonic environ for introspection. There is a graceful and cultivated intimacy to the music which speaks to me on a very personal level. These mature soundscapes evoke consideration, empathy, and place an emphasis on subtle and refined characteristics which are exquisitely beautiful when someone has the patience to embrace them but which tragically go unnoticed in the accelerated world of instant gratification.

Each of these musical properties resonates directly with my own character and values. I am this music.
