After reading the article that they link to about what Woodward said, their use of the word “quantum” sounds too liberal to me. Pairs of oppositely spinning particles is not necessarily the same thing as quantum entangled pairs.
In any case their discovery looks groundbreaking. It makes sense that ionic current is affected by magnetic fields, and it looks like they’ve discovered a neuronal mechanism that can detect those forces. (Neurons are all about ionic flow, unlike electricity in wires.)
