Reg, when did consensus replace evidence and reason?
There is plenty of evidence and good reason(s) to accept it as our best (current) understanding of the Universe. I will do up a post on it soon.
Thanks, Reg. 88 years are a bunch and happily I’m in good health.
Re my snarky Q, don’t do a post on evidence. Instead, one on your understanding of when consensus replaced evidence. My understanding follows.
It happened in the decades after 1957 when the USSR put a man into orbit. The Cold War was going strong and America’s leaders realized that the Soviets could use the same vehicle to put weapons into orbit. President Kennedy inspired America to land on the Moon and Congress appropriated the money. It paid for going to the Moon and for defending against an attack by Soviet space weapons. That was the start of NASA.
((While the government was building the launch facility at Florida’s Cape Canaveral, I was a few miles away at the Univ. of Florida getting my degree in math and physics and then in a year in grad school at Florida State Univ. doing more math and physics.))
The Bang had no competition and America needed to hire people who knew space. Many who supported the Bang got the jobs and for half a century they have been hiring only people who support the Bang.
In short, today’s Electric Universe people want some taxpayer money and NASA refuses to share.
