As a couple of you may know, I worked as a photographer in the porn industry for some years. I will almost certainly be better informed about how things work than almost anyone else you know.
I worked in a part of the industry I like to call medium-core. Not the hard “fuck and suck” stuff, but much more explicit than the true softcore stuff of girls in sexy outfits or topless simply showing off alluringly. I did photos of girls showing everything there is to see.
The industry category of my work is called “pro/am,” which stands for a pro photographer shooting amateur models.
While I didn’t work at the hard end of the industry, I’m familiar enough with it through osmosis to be able to answer most questions.
Why am I offering myself for this—I expect some won’t hesitate to judge me? It’s because I know from experience that people have a lot of ideas about what goes on that are way off base.
At the same time, I was, if not unique, at least unusual in some ways, starting with this: I didn’t work in California, I worked in Oregon.
Anyway, that’s enough for now.
Any questions?

August 6, 2020 at 5:26 pm #32748I have questions…but they will come across very vulgar. 😆 I’ve always been disturbed about squirting. It’s just piss, isn’t it?

I never tried to. But twice it happened after a model and I developed a bit of a friendship. I’ve worked with at least 250 models and the work situation itself involves dropping a lot of normal barriers, so this should be no surprise.
Understand this, though, anyone who wants to develop anything like a career doing what I did, can’t treat the work as a way to get laid. Other than that, it’s like any other job. People meet and like people they work with and sex happens from time to time in any field.
But the guy who’s constantly hitting on models will find that his supply of new talent will dry up. Models talk among themselves and one of the best recruiting tools is the model who will tell a friend, “Why don’t you work with this guy: he pays and he behaves professionally.”

i’m glad that we’re off to a flying start where there’s no such thing as TMI.
A more interesting question is WTF is that creamy white lubricant that develops when some women get sexually excited. The answer seems to be…
“In women who are premenopausal, it is normal to have approximately one-half to one teaspoon (2 to 5 mL) of white or clear, thick, mucus-like, and mostly odorless vaginal discharge every day. However, the amount and consistency of the discharge varies from one woman to another. The amount can also vary at different times during the menstrual cycle. It may become more noticeable at certain times, such as during pregnancy, with use of birth control pills/patch/vaginal ring, near ovulation, and in the week before the menstrual period.” (source)
When a female ejaculates (mostly pee), obviously it can mix with the lubricant fluids and she can appear to ejaculate creamy stuff.

One more thing about pee. You’ll find porn where people allow another person to pee into their mouth and sometimes they spit and sometimes they swallow.
Is that safe? Probably, even though urine is not as germ-free as once was thought. It’s complicated. Germs in pee isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it turns out.
I scanned that article and didn’t see any indication of communicable diseases being transferred orally or through urinating on open wounds.
Whether you find pee sex distasteful or not is up to you, but the recipient is seemingly not taking a major health risk.
August 6, 2020 at 6:39 pm #32754BTW, I’m noting a trend back to stories and higher production values. Strangely, a lot of it is in the touchy area of incest porn. In Ye Olden Days porn was in a movie format with a story and duration of well over an hour. Then, consumer video cameras came on the scene and decades of amateurish porn with no story and just documenting sexual activity was the norm.
If you want to see what I’m talking about, there is one about a brother and sister, blood relatives, forced to share a hotel room, ending up having sex. Despite the controversial and inflammatory topic, it is a gentle seduction story the premise of which is that the sex-starved sister is jealous of the attentions her brother gives his girlfriend and she asks him to make love to her the way he makes love to his girlfriend. It’s surprisingly tender. Production values aren’t the highest, but it has a story.
Another one is about a middle-aged man whose wife has (he says) abandoned him and his daughter, who seems young but whose age is never clearly stated (there’s your fig leaf, the other one being that they are step-relatives not blood relatives). Did she run away or did he do his wife in? It’s not clear. When he laments that he has no one to take care of his umm romantic needs, his step daughter pretty much volunteers, and lots of enthusiastic somewhat rough sex ensues. The father is played by porn superstar Steve Holmes, who’s been a “stunt cock” since the mid-1990’s. Porn does not shy away from pairing up people decades apart in age, And don’t think it’s always older male/younger female. Mother son incest is very popular. The young actress, Riley Star, is one of the many A-cup actresses in porn. The trope that all porn actresses are curvy women with gigantic boobs is just wrong. This video is characterized by cinematic-quality video and audio (the latter an area where amateur porn often fails). Both do very good acting jobs, especially Riley, as you’ll see when you view it.

August 6, 2020 at 8:26 pm #32756Okay, I’ll make the occasional statement to stimulate further questions.
The porn industry makes a lot of money. Some say it’s bigger than Hollywood in gross receipts. But gross receipts are just one way to compare businesses. Another is in terms of markup over costs. Profits. The difference between porn and Hollywood is that porn’s profit margins are wildly higher than those of Hollywood productions. It’s hard to make a Hollywood production for less than $1 million. It would be hard to spend much more than a few thousand dollars on a California porn video.
Another problem in terms or understanding the economics of porn is that much of it goes on in the area called The Dark Web. A lot of that is illegal stuff no one would dare try to sell out in the open. It’s impossible to know how much people spend there for two reasons. The obvious reason is because these transactions go on in a dark underground, the less obvious reason is that a lot of it (almost all of the illegal stuff) is paid using cyber currency like Bitcoin.
What are the economics of the mainstream (legal) porn industry? A usable video camera can be obtained for a few hundred dollars. One more capable of pro-looking video a couple or a few thousand dollars. Unlike the old days of film, media today hardly qualifies as a cost at all because most digital video goes either onto the same sort of tiny cards you use in still cameras, unless it goes directly onto a hard drive, and even a fairly capacious hard drive can be under $500.
What about the cost of performers? A well-known famous actress can fetch maybe $1000 or $2000. More common for a production using relative unknowns would be, believe it or not, just a couple to a few hundred dollars.
As for male performers? LOL What would YOU pay? I heard a producer/director at an adult industry conference answer the question “How much do you pay the guys?” with. “Why would I pay a guy anything for something he’s willing to do for free?” That works for a lot of low-budget, low-risk productions, but if you have money invested in a rented location, relatively professional camera and audio techs, and other support staff (cooks and cleaners, fluffers, etc.), you want a male performer who can perform dependably whenever needed. This kind of performer is called a “stunt cock.” He can get erect quickly whenever needed on a stop-and-go basis. The finished performance which looks like it has a smooth flow was actually produced during a much longer period full of necessary stops and starts. Sometimes it’s to change a camera angle. Sometimes it’s for the director to better explain what he wants. Sometimes it’s to fix someone’s hair. All kinds of things stop production for moments or minutes at a time. A typical stunt cock probably can fetch about as much as an unknown actress, $200 or so.
So, nowadays when it (wrongly) seems that almost no one pays for porn anymore, how does porn make money? Advertising for a variety of things ranging from pay sites, to sex toys, to penis enlargers, memberships in “dating” sites, etc. The free porn on the hundreds or thousands of free porn sites is just a loss leader. Most of the free videos are clearly identified as samples from a pay site like First Time Video Girls or PureTaboo. That site with thousands of free videos gets paid for sending traffic elsewhere.

August 6, 2020 at 9:11 pm #32758Why would a girl go into porn?
She knows she’s model material in every way except she’s under 5’10” tall which is kind of the bare minimum height for high-end runway fashion modeling. A gorgeous 5’2″ or 4’8″girl is welcome in porn. So, blame the fashion industry for one.
She has tried the more common sort of modeling, like for department store ads only to discover how ridiculously low the pay is. When we had a Meier and Frank department store here in town, one girl I talked to got a modeling gig only to discover that it only paid $35/hour and that they paid by the half hour. She made $17.50 that day.
In porn, a girl can make more money in an afternoon than she can earn in a month of 6-hour work days serving up coffee or cashiering at the local Walgreens. This can be the difference between a 3.5 or 4.0 GPA.
FINALLY, some girls think sex is fun. Some even enjoy anal sex and BDSM. Not everybody gets paid to do what they enjoy doing, and paid handsomely for it at that.
BUT, doesn’t porn exploit girls? There are lots of ways of answering that question. Doesn’t almost all work in a capitalist system exploit the employee? I suppose you can argue that porn exploits girls who don’t understand what they are getting into and how it can adversely affect their future career prospects. One way to answer that is to say that so can having a baby. Also, won’t that stigma be going away in the coming decades when judgmental old fogies are finally pushing up daisies? And when more people know someone who’s done sex work to get through school or pay their rent or buy food for their kids? Or will we remain as judgmental as we have been in the past? We’ll have to wait and see.
I’m sure some in porn tell the girls whatever they need to tell them to get them to work. They are, after all, people with capitalist enterprises to run. If you’re applying for a job selling insurance or cars will the manager who needs another person behind a desk or out on the sales lot be totally upfront about everything? Don’t be naive. Sure that kind of exploitation goes on.
Speaking for myself, I listened to every question a model being interviewed asked and answered them as honestly as possible. I never let myself get desperate and much of the advice I gave was actually rather fatherly. I would even answer the questions they didn’t know enough to ask. I’d explain that by signing the model release, for example, their paycheck was the last money they would ever see, even in the unlikely case her photos earned thousands and thousands of dollars. That the owner of the release could do just about anything with their likeness, too, including selling it to someone else who might do something unexpected and unwanted with it.
Many girls seemed to think that he photos would go away someday anyway. I had to tell her that her photos would be copied and traded among mostly adolescent boys but that her photos would likely still be around a hundred years from now.
Few were ever deterred from working for me based on my warnings, and I’m fairly certain the answer would have been the same for girls talking to a hardcore “fuck and suck” producer.

August 6, 2020 at 10:27 pm #32760I’d be lying if I said Older man/young woman wasn’t in my porn search history. And I know it’s a common stereotype of my home, but incest ain’t my thing. 😄

It’s probably not the “thing” of 99.9% of those who whack off to the legal stuff. Worry about the guy who’s out on the dark web whacking off to the man molesting his own five year old daughter (or son)…and paying to see it.
It’s popular because of it’s titillation value. It’s not wish fulfillment, it’s the titillation of watching people simulate doing something that is wrong. A lot of porn is like that. Someone engaging in adultery, for example, or a security guard making a girl perform sex in exchange for not being reported to the police as a shoplifter (I guess that one carries a kind of instant karma moral message in a way LOL).
Porn is about titillation more than exploitation.

We have the trailer trash and redneck porn categories for that.
August 7, 2020 at 10:10 pm #327741. Is it a normal cross section of Americans in terms of religiosity?
2. Have you heard porn actresses laugh at the notion that they’re all porn stars. Every time i hear a reference to a porn actress she is a star. That would render the word star meaningless.
