(1) Never vote for a Republican, ever again.
(2) Register Republican and vote against the incumbents in the primary.
I did, and Rump still got nominated. )-:
So what CAN we do?Are there any demonstrations or protests going on in central PA? (transportation is a problem for me)

They work in a very specialized sector and are very well qualified and experienced. Their two children are in middle school and adapted quickly to the new system.
Yesterday, the parents of all the pupils got an email from the school stating that (I am paraphrasing) “that the Trump administration had implemented a federal funding freeze in late January and the immediate effects of this freeze leave us uncertain about our financial planning and resource allocation for the coming months”.
I understand that parents are being asked if they can subsidize the school in some way in the meanwhile. These financial cuts will have serious impacts and low-income school districts will suffer the most and in a short period of time. At least one teacher is leaving the State and going to work in the private sector.
If this is not resolved by end of this month the family will move to France for the remainder of the contract. 16 other families that started with them will also leave. They say that the atmosphere in their part of town has changed from being vibrant to being what she described as “lonely and silent”.
They also told a story of how a woman came home from work to find that 3 members of her family are being held for deportation. None have a criminal record.
February 11, 2025 at 9:43 pm #56253It feels like the USA is on the brink. If our institutions do not withstand the onslaught it is johny ball game. It made me think of prospect of a return to democracy if USA becomes an oligarchy or dictatorship or the like. France came to mind but the AI cited quite a few examples.

What is undone in a few weeks by MAGA will take a lot longer to repair and recover from.
