I think I can assume that most of you don’t really understand what’s afoot with this white nationalism/separatism thing. I know I didn’t. It’s not just an American thing at all.

Kathleen Belew is Assistant Professor of U.S. History and the College at the University of Chicago and the author of Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement and Paramilitary America (Harvard University Press, Spring 2018).

A quick summary, but read the article to get the full impact of her research:

The main thing to realize is that this movement is big and international. She eschews the terminology of “white nationalism” or “white separitism” and uses “white power movement.” It embraces a lot more than just race: “…various racist groups — skinheads, Klansmen, white separatists, neo-Nazis, militiamen, and others.” You can throw in pro-life Christians as well.

When you realize that, you see it’s a much bigger problem than you’ve been imagining.

Next, you need to understand that these groups are NOT patriotic pro-American “Make America Great Again” groups, because their goal is the overthrow of the government of our Founding Fathers, to be supplanted by an single white nation across all of the Americas, Europe, Oceana, wherever white people are the majority population.

Some video and audio, starting short and getting long:

I’m not sure I agree with the Doc on some of her assertions.  The matter how you slice it these ideas are rooted in hate and an “us vs. them” mentality, ….Regardless of who it’s coming from. The capacity for this type of  hate is wired inside all of us.

A conversation with a reformed white nationalist who says the worst is yet to come.
