I am honestly having a hard time knowing what’s real and what’s not. I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid to talk to anyone about it in the “real world.” I need help
January 11, 2018 at 9:41 am #7321Your eyes and your ears don’t lie. Beyond that, facts have a number of alternative explanations.
January 11, 2018 at 9:48 am #7322That’s even more confusing lol
January 11, 2018 at 10:05 am #7323Your eyes and your ears don’t lie….
Maybe not as they just pick up sound and light waves. It is the interpretation your brain makes that informs your view of reality. Some people “hear” colors and their reality would look different to mine. Both are valid as they are constructed from the physical world. Gods came to exist in the minds of those who could not explain reality as they perceived it. Once we stop thinking that “god-did-it” then we can move from a false metaphysical view of the world to one grounded in objective realities that are derived from proven interpretations of our shared experinces. Oh wait…I need my morning coffee first!
January 11, 2018 at 10:41 am #7324I’ll see if I can make it any clearer. It’s like this
January 11, 2018 at 5:14 pm #7325Is that meat or a vegetarian sub? Is the herb parsley or sage? I think I will need more that my eyes and ears to work that one out 🙂
January 11, 2018 at 6:05 pm #7326I don’t know what’s real. Everything I thought was real is now shattered. My ex is telling me it’s my fault for everything. The school doesn’t see eye to eye with me about my son’s needs. My therapist is telling me it’s all my “trauma talking,” My uncle is telling me to leave this site and turn to God. My Dad is telling me the Catholic Church will help us. I feel alone and I don’t think I really know what’s real. Maybe it is all of my fault like my ex says. Maybe everything is because of me. That’s what my boss said. That it’s all my fault. Everything that has happened to me since I turned 18. It’s all my fault
January 12, 2018 at 12:44 pm #7337@belen – they all don’t know shit, and why would they? Even your boss, all he knows is Iraq.
Either
– they want a piece of you,
– they’re so ignorant they don’t even know they’re ignorant, or
– they’ve got something wrong with them and they just enjoy hurting people.
I understood that you are having success educating your son at home. School’s not for everyone. It would be good if that ex fulfils his side of the debt he owes you for saving his entire bacon.
January 12, 2018 at 4:32 pm #7338That’s not true

– your gob?
January 12, 2018 at 7:14 pm #7352Yes, we use as many senses as required to take in information. However it is our brain and not our senses that decides “what it is”. It might be a “real” Italian meat dish to one person but to everyone else who has dug further it is a veggie imposter. To both parties it appears “real” but one “truth” is based upon a fiction created by the an assumption. Our senses can deceive us so critical thinking by our brain is required.
January 12, 2018 at 7:25 pm #7353I agree, our senses can deceive, and so also can the brain’s critical thinking. This is why we need to remember, there are multiple possible stories to fit any set of observations.
I guess the reason why the senses can deceive, is that the brain attributes a wrong cause to an observation. Such as, “this tastes like pepperoni” when it is actually “super tofu” or something.
January 13, 2018 at 1:11 am #7355Belle, seems everyone’s got an opinion on your apparent flaws. If you ask me I don’t think you need to change. I do think you need to change the people around you.
Just because your boss/dad/relative/therapist thinks things are your fault only shows that they haven’t understood what’s gone on in your life at all, at best. They aren’t doing much for you, emotionally, are they? It doesn’t seem so to me. Distance yourself.
Dont forget, the religious are the ones who love blame and guilt – it’s a flock control toolkit. You don’t need it. You are a strong woman and you don’t need to be told what to do, how to think, or anything else.
January 13, 2018 at 8:09 am #7357Wow Strega your comment pierced my heart, lol…I mean in a good way you know?
I think I have it figured out. I’m getting ready to move to California. I have 3 kick ass biological uncles there ready to whip my son’s ass into shape and help me raise him. One of them is a religious nut, but the other two balance him out.
I’m looking into working a telecommuting job so I can live and travel anywhere any time. I’m buying bits of land around the country for cheap, and getting ready to buy an off grid trailer and will go camping and hiking etc most of the year. So California will be our home base, but honestly I’ll probably spend most of the year travelling. #Vanlife baby! I’ll make the trip up to the PNW so my son can see his father, and will make the trip into MX so he can see his primos, lol…
We’ll bring the dogs with us, lol…
We’ll travel around the world and do parkour, and basically live the hippie life. Sustainable, mobile, and we’ll life with almost zero money. Yeah I’m doing parkour along with my son, lol….who do you think he got the talent from? lol….
So the whole world can fuck off as far as I’m concerned.
I’m done. lol
January 13, 2018 at 9:52 am #7358I don’t know what’s real but it doesn’t matter. I don’t trust anyone anymore, but the world is our playground. I don’t need anyone
