Sure, Fuller! We atheists aren’t all the same, so this is just my personal response. 1) I’ll fight against any government sponsorship of any specific religion because history proves it restricts the freedom of other religions, and the rest of us; 2) As for who your biggest enemy might be, it’s likely they are religious extremists who will fight to the death while believing they have the most direct and accurate knowledge of God.
Greetings PopeBeanie (funny name- I do get it!). As an American, I value freedom and the generalized points you made, even regarding religious extremists. As a theist, of the Christian variety, I strongly desire the market-place of ideas and philosophies to be accessible to all. How else can one examine the reasonableness of any philosophy or worldview if they can’t access it?
I think this is necessary even in the public square, which would include equal access to religion and religious studies in public high-school. I do think it would be fair to offer science classes (as electives) from a theistic perspective but all serious faith views that claim to reflect honest scientific inquiry should be presented. I said “claim” because I’m sure many atheists would disagree.
