This is a very interesting piece of knowledge about three common personality / developmental disorders, and how they are related. I always thought that borderline was acquired, while psychopathy and narcissism are innate: but maybe I was wrong.

    • I can’t read it. What makes ya say? Source?
      • Click on the picture and you can see it properly.

Source for the information in the diagram: Baskin-Sommers, Arielle; Elizabeth Krusemark; Elsa Ronningstam – “Empathy in Narcissistic Personality Disorder: From Clinical and Empirical Perspectives”; Personality Disorders: Theory, Research, and Treatment; 2014, Vol. 5, No. 3, 323-333

        • Thanks Simon, but i don’t understand how the diagram relates to issue of nature/nurture.

        • It doesn’t. According another article, “familial environment” has zero influence. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23281671
          • The point about this diagram is that psychopathy, narcissism and BPD are related and lie on a spectrum.
              • Gotcha. I guessed a long time ago that the mental illnesses are not separate and distinct.
              • This diagram makes more sense, showing the comorbidity rather than shared traits.
