    Conversations didn’t happen when I was a kid. My parents died before I learned the reason; they had grown up hearing “If you’re talking, you aren’t working.” It got worse. Unable to talk with their five kids, even to tell us the kind of behavior they wanted, they used violence. Eventually, I threw them out of my life. They weren’t alcoholics or insane; they deserved better but never got it.,

    You’ve heard the bad advice, “Don’t talk politics or religion.” You’ve not heard the worse advice, “Don’t talk sexuality.”
