    Hmmm…maybe we could make it a COSTUME party? I’m fond of GODDESS robes, to tell the truth and I imagine Strega looking quite chic in SATAN SLIPPERS! (Red, of course, with upturned toes.)

    And I’m SURE you’re right, Strega! Thinking about how many distant friends we make on the ‘net and how easily we can be honest and share thoughts, etc….

    A lessening of religious influence on society is giving MANY of us ”breaks,” whether we’re gay, atheist, transgender, involved in mixed-race relationships, etc.

    How about a cheese tray, wheat crackers, popcorn with garlic/chili butter, hummus, jalapeno poppers and champagne? Riesling? Cold mint tea? (I’m making myself HUNGRY!)

    I’m glad, too, Lesa! (I was forced to attend church as a child and can still remember the manipulative way they put pressure on children to ”accept Jesus” with choir music, pleading from the pulpit, etc. I didn’t recognize it then as the choreographed indoctrination it was…but I certainly do now!)

    Lesa, I had a similar experience with my daughter. Some fundies got hold of her and it was difficult for me to watch. BUT..I told her that I’d always raised her to be an independent thinker and hoped she’d explore whatever she needed to do.

    About 5 years later….no more Jesus!

    It’s an African hedgehog baby. I work with them (and others) at a large zoo. They’re very interesting little critters.

    This is precisely why I resist efforts to make face veiling commonplace! Ask yourself how you’ll feel if you’re in line at the bank and SOMEONE comes in, veiled from top to toe and stands, looking around.

    Security demands bare faces.
