Perhaps “neo-Nazi” is a misnomer that dredges up old-fashioned definitions and outdated attitudes. One has to remember that the right in Ukraine isn’t monolithic. Some are clearly Nazi admirers but many are perhaps better described as various stripes of fascism who are more anti-left and anti-LGBTQ than anti-Jew.
In other words, it’s complicated.

March 25, 2022 at 3:05 am #42018There is no doubt that during WWII many Ukrainians aligned with Germany thinking it was the lesser of the two evils. Afterall, it’s not like the US and the UK just kept Western Europe for themselves like the Soviets did in the east. Even Churchill seemed to agree with that. But if you wanna find Nazi’s look no further than the red, white and blue.
Nobody can defeat liberals like ourselves. You know, right-wing fanatics don’t need our help. When supposed “liberals” or democrats like wingnuts Tulsi or Brandt start with this devil’s advocacy nonsense they should not be surprised when a future President declares himself emperor and Pope of the US.

Here’s the story about “Ukrainian” Dressing:
Would You Like Ukrainian Dressing on Your Salad? ‘Freedom Fries’ Go Eastern-European

And here is the story about Tchaikovsky’s cancellation, even though Tchaikovsky was against Russian Nationalism and loved Ukraine:
Cardiff Philharmonic removes Tchaikovsky from programme in light of Russian invasion of Ukraine

You expressed a fact-free opinion. There was nothing there to refute. You got your two paragraphs of “fame.”

I had this wild thought going through my head since reading about Ukraine’s Neo-Nazi Azov Batallion: Maybe Zelenskyy is setting them up for a slaughter.
Think about it: Zelenskyy lost relatives in The Holocaust of the Nazis and he had relatives who lived during Ukraine’s Holodolmar and served in the Red Army under the incompetance, brutality, and terror of Joseph Stalin, whose cult has made a comeback under Putin.
What could be a more quiesiently-cold, quintuple-smooth, exquisitely-sweet revenge than to have two of your worst enemies, two rival but equally evil enemies of humanity, set against each other and killing and dying on the battlefield?
Zelenskyy is a comedian and comedy come from a place of pain and Zelenskyy may be setting up Nazis and Commies for a big last laugh!
Of all the ugliness in The Russo-Ukrainian War, this may well be the equivalent of a Bob Hope USO Show of Comic Relief!
“How ’bout them Azovs and Ex-KGBers? Ain’t they wild? I gotta tell ya! Sure wish Dolly Parton was here to show ’em what they’re both missin’! Right Here!” 😁

Something to think about for sure.
March 25, 2022 at 6:28 pm #42026Perhaps Putin is seeking a face-saving offramp(?).
