I wish to understand how cults and extreme movements manifest. I see more anger and hate in social media than ever before. I’m seeing people say, with confidence, authoritarianism would be better than the current “permissive society that’s ruining America”. The threat to democracy is real, wrapped in an American flag, and carried by Christian Nationalists.

If we can’t win this election, I’m just documenting to some degree how the takeover is happening.

I know four people who support Trump, and they’re all exceptionally intelligent and nice.  So, I don’t get why they don’t smell him a mile off.  He’s a master manipulator.

We have plenty of firearms.

If there is a revolution I am sure that some of the 180,000 active duty marine corps will be able to handle them. Once it is declared a national emergency or an insurgency they will get out of bed (both of which are exceptions to the Posse Comitatus Act). Then they can go back for their breakfast.

There are always going to be hot-headed nutters.  A certain person whips them up.  You’re right, it’s not patriotic at all.  People are focused on just one or two things instead of the big picture.  I find that some of the Kamala-objecting Democrats are doing the same thing: objecting to some single issue, without caring that Donald Trump … well … that’s it.

LOL, I’m laughing for real, because I must have spent ten minutes rewording my post because it sounded so childish! I wanted to make fun of those guys soooo badly.

There’s surely some kind of us-vs-them instinct that kicks in, especially when a cult-like leader can get everyone’s attention. Like what happened when we invaded Iraq, in knee-jerk reaction to 911.

My first thought when he said the military won’t fight patriots, while pointing to himself, was that he’s threatening to kill patriots, he just doesn’t know it. And fighting for God, that’s another self-reinforced delusion.

It’s just like a fervor for violent jihad, isn’t it? And edging toward sharia law.

This PBS-Amanpour video is almost 18 minutes, but this guy gave me insight into how politically motivated violence has been happening on a predictable arc.

These weren’t mentioned in the video, but IMO perhaps 1) they’re on the same historic arc that Bannon foresaw and has been leading; 2) this is how anti-woke pushback has gotten so much fuel thrown onto it.
