Timing of takeover in Venezuela is interesting. Major protests erupting in Iran and Trump warning Iran it will i don’t remember exact wording but come to rescue of protestors if any are killed.

So it is perhaps a message to Iranians that they aint kidding around and will invade unless… And it also suggests coupled with the bombing of nuc facilities that US is not simply hot air. I think another threat was issued by Trump earlier about rearming in ballistic missles and nucs.

Well, Maduros and Chavez before him ran shithole regimes that enslaved their own people, so it’s hard to sympathize with them. Whether American boots on the ground or Venezuelans rising up themselves (my choice) is the better option is another story.

Trump is deluded if he thinks oil will pay for his operation, since the companies won’t re-enter the country until they have assurances of security. That strategy also didn’t work in Iraq or Libya.

In any event, opposing Trump won’t get you any brownie points with Maduros’ compatriots:

I agree but the takeover with ridiculous pretexts is a bad precedent. Hard to defend opposition to China and Russia if US is gonna step in while they step out. Hopefully the net result will be positive.

As to divining the motivation i wonder if Trump is capable of enunciating policy goals. For sure it is a zionist plot. Whatever happens outside of Israel it is the Jews. Whatever move Israel makes is condemned.

Agreed. Trump is at least as schizoid and hysterical about drugs as every previous Administration since Wilson and it’s Harrison Act.

On one hand, Trump accuses Venezuela of being the source of Fentanyl, when the actual source is China via Mexico.

Then he blows up Venezuelan ships and captures Maduro and spouse over it, even though he pardoned Ross Ulbricht, the owner of The Silk Road, where drugs were trafficked online, and pardoned Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández who was a drug trafficker.

And, of course, he has a heroin addict RFK Jr. As head of the HHS, who is also supporting psychoactive hallucinogenic drugs for PTSD.

The only good policies Trump has supported is reducing the Schedule for Marijuana to allow research on it and supporting the “right-to-try” cures without normal FDA protocols for sufferers of chronic, terminal conditions.

What no one from any side is supporting are experiments in Genetics or Chemistry to make drugs that kill pain without killing people. A success in this area combined with mass production and distribution would end all cartels and drug gangs overnight.

Venezuela is already allied with China and Russia, as well as Cuba, Iran, and Hezbollah.

Still, a long-term war down there might mean Superpowers could collide in ways that could go NBC and global. So it would probably be best if the Venezuelans were supported from a distance to depose their tyrants themselves.
