Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorMedieval Christendom is the ideal for those wanting to end the ‘democratic experiment’. The man who would be king is happy to corrupt all 3 branches of the federal government to achieve that. What would Jefferson and Madison have thought about ‘rededicating’ the US to an imaginary God? It’s time to “Rebuild that Wall”.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorHave a great week everyone!
I got called into work last weekend to solve an emergency in a hospital IT system. Luckily it was a holiday weekend so I managed to get systems up and running again, 2 hours before the first scheduled operation.

Reg, how long before your superpowers will be executed by AI without need for a human?

PopeBeanieModerator‘World-first’ vaccine designed by artificial intelligence.
That’s so cool! I visualized a way to explain fairly simply how AI can do this, treating DNA/RNA just like another language.
1) Via sheer computation, an LLM learns and documents patterns in a language, and can then predict which new patterns can be described that are likely to be relevant to a specific question it is asked.
2) DNA has language rules and patterns, kind of like how recipes are written in cookbooks. (And real cookbooks employ their own language.) Viruses (and other microbes like bacteria) can pack DNA or RNA as instructions for their recipes.
—– —– —– —– —– —– —–
But I needed more help explaining this, went to Perplexity Pro AI, picked out one of its answers and edited it for the result, below (yes I fixed some typos):
- LLMs are pattern hunters and detectors. They learn which symbol sequences tend to appear together, and which ones are informative for answering a question. They don’t “understand” English the way humans do; they learn the statistics of how the symbols behave.
- DNA and RNA are also strings of symbols, written in a four‑letter alphabet. They obey their own “grammar”. To an AI model, this just looks like a different language or a very specialized cookbook.
- A virus’s “cookbook” contains recipes for how to attach to cells, get inside them, copy itself, dodge the immune system, and jump to the next host. Different strains rewrite those recipes slightly, but they often keep similar core steps because those are essential for survival.
- The AI model actually trains this LLM‑style system on:
- lots of viral genomes or protein sequences, and
- annotations like “this region is conserved across many strains” or “this region is targeted by neutralizing antibodies”.
- the model can learn correlations between sequence patterns and those labels. Then, when you show it a new virus or a big collection of related viruses, it can:
- spot shared sequence motifs that recur across many strains,
estimate which motifs are most likely to be shared, - and flag them as high‑value candidates for a vaccine to target.
- spot shared sequence motifs that recur across many strains,
A cadre of scientists and their corporate structure do the rest.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorI am not worried by A.I. in the workforce. Too many companies are in a hurry to integrate AI into their core systems and very few I deal with have any idea how a basic network operates, let alone an A.I. system. Many of my clients work in the Architectural and Engineering sector and are required to submit online tenders for government projects. I tell them to manually do the paperwork but give it to an LLM only to proof read and to “sanity check”, rather than getting it to do all the work. Most ignore me. The one company that asked for a further discussion recently submitted their tender as they have done for 40 years. They got the contract. They had, on my advice, included 2 simple typos in their submission. I read some of the failed ones. All were “obviously” AI generated and were so similar as to be laughable. My client got it even though they were 40K more expensive, but still under the budget guidelines.
AI is great for coding and running scripts to do simple repetitive tasks but I find I still have to troubleshoot them and be very precise in how I word the questions. I have now built up a library of scripts that save me a lot of time when (say) building a company network from scratch or migrating them to a new platform.
I have yet to see an AI use a screwdriver or build a server 🙂
This is worth a read.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorYes PopeBeanie, it is brilliant. It is more of a paradigm shift (Kuhn) than an evolution in medical science. All future developments will be at the micro and atomic level. Better living through Science!

Good to see you back, and with such a great collection of article titles to explore and enjoy!
The first article mentioning the NeoReactionary/Dark Enlightenment school of thought got me to thinking: Have you researched any on Curtis Yarvin?
He’s the younger counterpart of Steve Bannon’s Town Drunk. Curtis Yarvin looks like one of the ones Jordan Peterson lectures to “Make Their Bed.”
Curtis Yarvin–Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_YarvinThis is our future overlord? Jeez I hope not! We are bad off as a species if we let that take over!

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorThanks Enco, glad to be finished that project. Taking tomorrow off and will go for a 6 hour walk\trek….here.
Yes, I have seen Yarvin’s name crop up in a few articles recently. He thinks Trump is not killing democracy quickly enough and if MAGA loses the Senate it will herald the end of the Trump administration which will “wither and eventually dissipate” unless it becomes more extreme. He said that “as soon as it stops accelerating, it stalls and explodes.”
But I expect there to be more craziness before we get to the darkness at the end of that tunnel.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! This is AI at it’s best! Slop-free and working with us and not against us!
Please don’t let anyone get in the way of this! Give Bobby Brainworm RFK Jr, Bret Weinstein, Heather Heying, Jenny McCathy, and Ron Schneider a reality show where they hunt cryptids, so they’ll be distracted away from peeing in the punchbowl!
I look forward to more news about this and everything works out, I hope the super-antigen spreads worldwide!

Before serving as an exorcist through the St. Michael Center, Monsignor Rossetti was a prominent advocate for the prevention of child abuse in church settings, and a psychologist specializing in clerical sex abuse. Before serving as an exorcist through the St. Michael Center, Monsignor Rossetti was a prominent advocate for the prevention of child abuse in church settings, and a psychologist specializing in clerical sex abuse.
So Monsignor Rossetti went from fighting real evils to fighting imaginary ones?
Well, what else can you expect when he addresses an assertion not found in evidence with another assertion not found in evidence?
In his interview on YouTube this week, Monsignor Rossetti alluded to some disagreements among exorcists about the nature of extraterrestrials.
“One exorcist told me he thought that this person was possessed by aliens,” he said with a laugh. “Aliens — if there are aliens — don’t possess people, that’s nonsense: Again, it’s demons trying to hide and trying to manipulate and disguise themselves.”
If extraterrestrials are out there and listened to the Catholic Church’s EWTN broadcasts or Billy Graham’s pronouncements about extraterrestrials, that would be enough explanation for why they haven’t shown up. Their version of SETI would be a SET UP for having a Close Encounter of the Trinitarian Kind. .

Michael Shermer could have picked many other better people than Batya Ungar-Sargon to discuss Anti-Semitism on the Left. Batya’s interview with Megyn Kelly was what cinched it for me.
Listening to Megyn Kelly parsing about the age of Epstein’s abuse victims and Batya blank-staring and apple-polishing over Trump’s treatment of this horror, simply made me sick.
Evidently, to Megyn and Batya, the abuse of children–including female and Jewish children who were Epstein’s victims–is just small-talk at the nail salon:
Being a mother does not a Mama Bear make and being a female does not a nurturer make either. It sometimes makes me wonder if any place on Earth is safe for children.
