May 7, 2023 at 1:23 pm #48144Ever notice how photos of the week are primarily focused on some really sorry religious traditions? It’s like every town has some colorful parade of nonsense with costumes, snakes, body paint, effigies, whatever. Photogs capture with such skill as if any of it means anything beyond mass-delusion. I remember getting stuck in traffic the first week I moved to my town while some sweaty, bloody jesus actor was dragging a giant cross down main street, proceeded by fire trucks and motorcycle cops. I skipped out on watching the crowning of Charles because that’s all wrapped-up in all that divine rights of kings nonsense.
May 7, 2023 at 6:52 pm #48145@_Robert_ Yes, almost every week we have a few of them. It is almost cringe inducing to watch some of them happening. So many of our fellow humans are still caught up in this nonsense. Muslims whipping themselves until they spill enough of their own blood to please their imaginary god and Christians nailing themselves to crosses to show the strength of their faith (i.e. the severity of their delusions).
Nobody seemed to notice that the Church of England was without a representative of the Creator of the Universe since the Queen died. But now that Charles is officially the King we can rest easy as he is also the Supreme Governor of the C of E. Now that an Archbishop has anointed him with oil the Holy Spirit dwells in him.
Both he and Camilla looked superb in their well fitting crowns. It was just magical.

Whole I wouldn’t touch the Bibles. I would leave the Arizona Bible-Thumpers complimentary bookmarks with the Website for The Skeptic’s Annotated Bible/Qur’an/Book of Mormon.
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com
Or even more fitting, bookmarks with quotes from Barry Goldwater defending Religion-State Separation and opposing the Religious Right.
Such as:
“I’m frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in “A,” “B,” “C” and “D.” Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of “conservatism.”
Or:
“Can any of us refute the wisdom of Madison and the other framers? Can anyone look at the carnage in Iran, the bloodshed in Northern Ireland or the bombs bursting in Lebanon and yet question the dangers of injecting religious issues into the affairs of state?”
By the way, in case you haven’t done so already, if that new “Hate Speech” bill passes in Ireland, you may want to consider an offshore server for this site and any other content that could fall afoul of this tyrannical proposal.
