The kid next door on my childhood street in Palm Beach County grew up to become a Catholic priest who sexually abused a woman while performing an exorcism on her. Lucky for him, the church settled with her out of court. Prior to that, he was sort of a rock star priest. They were so proud.
His anti-abortion activity began in the early years of his priesthood with prayer vigils, pilgrimages, pickets at abortion clinics, sidewalk counseling and the establishment of a crisis pregnancy center across the street from an abortion clinic in 1999, which became the subject of an HBO documentary in 2010.

What makes it so ill stories about priest who sexually abuse their parishioners mean nothing to Catholics. Why should it? Why should they think about a religion that encourages them not to think? From a psychological point of view, priest really are border-line schizophrenics. They take a vow of celibacy but the pressure is great because no matter what their minds promised, their bodies don’t agree that sex is something it’s supposed to do without. The body rebels against deprivation urging them to do things worse than if they hadn’t made the promise. Then they find themselves in these positions of authority over vulnerable people.
In the book of Numbers, chapter five, God himself gives a man exact instructions for how to force his wife to have an abortion if he suspects he is not the father. In the KJV it uses a euphemism (her thighs will rot). I’d be interested to know what it says in the catholic bible. Doesn’t matter. They all believe their version of the bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
