LOL, so it’s definitely not obvious to those unfamiliar with these girls. I take the imperfect recording of ASMR as being part of their tongue-in-cheek nature. They are audio tech savvy. The first thing I noticed is the unusually high amount of reverb they added, so it sounds “overdone”.
They’re also conscious of the potential negatives of “giving in” to profiting from product placement.

UnseenParticipantA question for you, Pope Beanie: Do you think their songs are getting better at all under the tutelage of a production company, or was their original material (Teatro Metropolitan concert for example) better or even far better on the whole?
April 28, 2026 at 11:54 pm #60610
PopeBeanieModeratorMaybe, but I don’t use the word “better”. It even bugs me when people compare their early teen performances with their later years and say they’ve gotten better. More skilled, more creative, more proficient overall, bigger audiences, reactors that are obviously impressed much more than they expected, and often pointing out how DPA are “better” than other typical bands, more animated, more into putting on great performances.
For sure, they haven’t gone lazy in performances, and they definitely look like they enjoy what they’re doing more than other bands. Much of my enjoyment is seeing their enjoyment and continual evolution, even when I’m not loving every song. All productions still look top notch to me. Take the well-produced re-do of Escapism at the Honda stage, for example, only a few months or so old now.
Don’t they seem to be having a lot of fun, still? It just feels to me like they’re happy with their evolution, so far, not slacking off, and they’re happy to talk about it. Do you think maybe some of it’s not coming from their heart?

UnseenParticipantWell, it turned down the post I just posted. Weird. It had a Youtube link in it, but I see others making posts with videos. I’m starting to feel like a second class citizen here.

PB, being a working band isn’t about simply pleasing yourself, it’s about pleasing your fans. Remember how good they were that way four years ago?
The last time they did anything this good was when they produced Hell You Call A Dream. That was two years ago.

PopeBeanieModeratorWell, it turned down the post I just posted.
Did you learn what fixed the problem?
May 4, 2026 at 2:31 am #60666
PopeBeanieModeratorThat was two years ago.
Yeah, about 2-1/2 years ago was Pepsi Center, which was iconic. But you made me think, and I think my perspective’s different because about 95% of my TW experience is in watching reactors, especially first-time reactors. So I’m getting extra mileage on re-hearing their older stuff and seeing how amazed first-time reactors are.
And then came Escapism’s updated recording at the Honda Center, which I’m still in awe of.
TW surpassed 1M subscribers, and are up 5% more now. They’ve been busy on world tours and other appearances, and have new songs coming out soon. Two of them, only seen live so far, are in a different genre, so they’re at least going outsite the box a bit, and the reactors I’ve seen like them.
I’m not a pro reviewer, and I don’t feel that my personal opinion about their new stuff really matters much. Their history is enough for me to live on happily for a while, while it still wouldn’t surprise me if they evolve in exciting ways.
