Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorRamen to all as Pastafarianism approaches its 15th year!!
I would tend to agree with the idea that there are many more atheists in America than we think and that there are many more at various stages of the journey from mental slavery too. There will be a few who will back track but when you hear their reasons you can only pity them even if our old friend Kevin Harris from Think Atheist supports them.

Now only 12% of Americans support new laws promoting the Bible in public schools.
Meet the black humanist group challenging organized religion.
The boycott threat over Georgia’s abortion ban is growing. Next time I am visiting Atlanta I will drop into the Vision Church for a reading.
My definition of Islamophobia is that is a term invented to stop criticism of Islamic doctrine. I openly disparage Islam in the same way as I do Christianity. We should instead focus on dealing with anti-Muslim hatred which is a real thing. Islam is an ideology and deserving of criticism.
Every parliament needs their own Jacinda Ardern.

Here is why we will never know everything about our Universe or is it because those damn cosmologists and scientists keep changing their minds!! But Einstein knew that scientific observations would not give up their secrets too easily.
Slow Thought is a great idea unless you can convince me otherwise.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorHave a great week everyone!!
Today is World Dracula Day. When Christians ask me if I believe Jesus is real I answer –
Yes, of course, I mean why else would a vampire be afraid of a crucifix!!
OK, I am off for a quick bite to drink.

_Robert_ParticipantThe commentary on the Ark of Ham story is perfect. Even Gord O’Mitey chimed in, LOL. Bravo. This is what a reasonable believer had to say…
I do believe science, I don’t believe in the young Earth theory (6000 yo) and there is no basis for it. I do not want creationism taught in our public schools as it violates church/state separation and I don’t want someone else deciding what religious thought our children are exposed too. Religious teachings should take place at home or in the church or private school with no tax dollar funding…. And my definition of creationism certainly is not the definition of creationism that the Evangelical religious right would have everyone believe.

Simon PayntonParticipantSlow Thought is a great idea unless you can convince me otherwise.
Slow thinking sounds like a really good idea. The difficulty with the mind is that it is not a machine, and can’t just work on demand. We have to be kind to it in order for it to work. Also, philosophy is about analysing situations and seeing connections between elements, and this just can’t be hurried in my opinion.

Reg the Fronkey FarmerModeratorI always enjoy listening to the apologists. You can tell the ones who are close to the exit but still not finding the door handle and those that are still crawling around in the maze, believing it to be mysterious rather than a mire of acrobatic theology they are engaging in. I have been covering this story for years.

Yes I agree. As I mentioned before, the philosopher Hegel said that “the study of Philosophy is but the introduction to Philosophy”.

Simon PayntonParticipantThe late great Mary Midgely said that philosophy is like doing plumbing.

Simon PayntonParticipantI like Wittgenstein’s definition in the article: “a synopsis of trivialities”. I agree, as it’s about everyday life, and everyday life is made up of trivialities. I would add that it’s an explanation for trivialities too.
