    Unseen,

Go to her Youtube channel and browse through her videos looking for a pattern. I think you’ll see what I see.

Look, she does what a lot of right wingers do which is to provide a video to support an argument based on one instance without full context. Was there an assault before the assault? Were inflammatory words exchanged? Is this one episode or indicative of a general pattern?

This is pretty close to anecdotal journalism. It reminds me of how Trump will justify his extreme actions based on something he read or heard about somewhere that might be highly unusual, very atypical, inaccurately reported, or totally fictitious or made up.

A street full of rabble throwing fireworks and violating noise ordinances, intimidating the handicapped from going outdoors, a Palestinian flagpole upside the head followed by apathy by an officer whose only duty is evidently donut disposal, streets with storefronts boarded up for years, strewn with bottles and human shit. I’d say that’s context enough that something is rotten in Portland.

Portlanders should have enough regard for their homes to put a stop to this without prompting from Orange Man.

The states with the highest murder/crime rates year after year in the United States are MAGA central. Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, New Mexico, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri. Their small rural towns have insanely high crime rates. Ever drive though rural Alabama? Shit shacks and moldy doublewides covered with MAGA flags. So stooopid.

There’s a further irony in that these states are almost without exception “taker” states that receive more in Federal benefit dollars than they pay In Federal tax dollars, whereas the bulk of the prosperous “giver” states, which pay more in Federal taxes than they get back in benefits, are Democrat run.

    Robert,

And you’ll notice from the Axios article linked above that the Southern States you mentioned have blue cities with high murder rates. So bipartisan bloodbaths anyone?

Those blue cities in red states are too small to swing the electoral college scam, especially with all the gerrymandering. But yeah, the whole red state sucks and waits for Jesus to fix things.  The white boys cook up the meth out in their country shit shacks and sell it in the cities. But hey, those red states have crap health, poor education, filthy environments, crap wages, crap everything. But the voters are stupid, so no war on Mississippi is needed because so many drop out of Robert E Lee High school.

And if anyone thinks “the army” is an answer to crime in a democracy and will somehow fix the root causes, well they are a fucking fascist. You won’t like “the fix”, you know. Saudi has a super low crime rate. It’s all too stooopid.

The problem with blue cities with high crime rates existing in red states is that they are in red states with state governments that don’t feel like helping any part of the state which isn’t white and conservative.

Yes, for example, around here, the State Dept of Transpo will completely repave a suburban state road over and over but leave an urban state road looking like Swiss cheese for years. But the state troopers love hanging around the urban areas, overlapping with metro cops, giving traffic tickets while leaving huge stretches of suburban and rural roads totally uncovered.

But wait a minute, you just said before and almost in the same breath that Red States were the “takers.

By your thinking, Blue Cities in Red States should be the States’ benefactors.

Also, you ignore that neither “Red” and “Blue” no longer have their old constituents, either in terms of “race” or ideology. MAGA is certainly not limited government conservative.

Now you see why I don’t vote for either of them? Partisanship burns out the part of the brain that detects logical contradictions.

Talk about logical contradictions. Why don’t you research deficit growth (especially relative to GDP) under old school Republican vs Dem administrations over the decades and then tell us why you fell for the “conservative” bullshit like so many others.

Conservative were never really for small government. They were for small taxes for their corporations and the wealthy donors and taking away any tiny benefit that might equalize the wealth gap just a little bit.

With Trump, the red states fucked around and found out. Let’s watch as the MAGA soybean farmers cry for their socialist bailouts and red state Governers beg for their disaster relief.

I know that deficits and debt come from spending more than you have, and that they happen no matter what party is in power or what they claim to be. Again, I don’t support either of the major party false binary.

I also know that this spending resulted from decades of trying to solve the “root causes” you claim cause crime.

Have fun in your bouncy ball echo chamber.

Your logic escapes me. Do you deny that red states get more than they give of Federal tax revenue or that they are less than generous when sharing that booty with cities that vote blue?

There’s a further irony in that these states are almost without exception “taker” states that receive more in Federal benefit dollars than they pay In Federal tax dollars, whereas the bulk of the prosperous “giver” states, which pay more in Federal taxes than they get back in benefits, are Democrat run.

With what money? Not the money that the GOP-run state refuses to share equitably.

Also, you ignore that neither “Red” and “Blue” no longer have their old constituents, either in terms of “race” or ideology.

It is undeniably the red areas, heavily MAGA, harbor a resentment toward nonwhite citizens in general.

Portlanders racing out of the city to escape rampaging Antifas, BLMers, and maybe even Hamasers?

Nope. Just the annual Portland marathon going on without a hitch.\

I just watched a clip of Trump earlier today condemning the judge who put his militaristic plans for Portland on hold mixed in with the claim that “Portland is on fire” and that “Politicians there say they don’t want our help because they’re scared.”

I’m depressed to think that our major networks are now cowed into failing to call his bluff. Our republic will be lost if the truth doesn’t get out because the networks have lost their cogliones. You have to watch alternative media to hear the truths too inconvenient to Trump to be exposed on ABC, NBC, and CBS.(Fox is a lost cause.)

    Unseen,

I question the whole premise behind the scenario.

If the “Blues” are the ones who create the programs that redistribute wealth and the “Reds” are the beneficiaries more than the “Blues”, doesn’t that make the “Blues” dummies? And aren’t the “Blues” double dummies if the “Reds” are such bigots?
