When i skim science headlines (and yea read some of the articles) and think back just 4 or 5 yrs. today’s headlines feel like sci fi. The richness of the prospect for improving our lives is staggering. At same time it feels like the norms and beliefs and stupidity are overflowing their toilet and depositing turds everywhere you look.

Toppings and droppings.

Those chimps can of course do that. It would be surprising were it not so. I knew when i was a kid how stupid the so called scientists’ approach to other animal intelligence. But that is not same as beliefs humans hold in Trump and lefty beliefs et. al.

If chimps are capable of that sort of ideological belief formation…[Read more]

In the event some lurker is confused about the Israel and Palestine morality play this video is worth watching.

Strega,

Valid question and one that has occurred to me as well.

The AI faith and hope connection is a dodge. Probably reflects the biases of the public and the creators. Would not want to shoot anyone in the nuts with reality.

And yes of course there is as we all know a mundane usage of faith that is not at all the same as what is meant by faith in connection to religion. (That applies in my opinion to…[Read more]

Depositing carlinesque brain scat just like that DJ.

The butt is not the significant factor Enco. Rather it is the juxtaposition of smoking under different circumstances and the world of difference in feeling. Optimism regarding the future is not the sine qua non to valhalla that Simon says.

A plus Reg.

On a par with the best passages of Bertrand Russell and similar authors.

Simon,

Don’t you think some terminal and or times up and finish line fast approaching folks feel the value of their lives or appreciation for the past and gratitude for their lives?

You’ve changed the definition of faith.

Ya know that soldier who is cold and in pain danger at every moment and yet finds a moment to smoke a butt and feel the…[Read more]

Reg,

You are the last one for whom i would have expected such a betrayal.

Please tell the truth.

Sudan, Congo, Yemen and the dozen others do not count because of cultural relativism. Were those “crimes” as you suggest actually crimes? Or do the cultural norms excuse the putative perpetrators and the resultant victimless crimes?

Sorry if i have cost you time searching as a result of my misplaced placement intransigence.

Simon,

There’s so much i might say.

But not today.

Simon says someone says it who didn’t say it but lemme display it.

The problem in colleges isn’t indoctrination. It’s a lack of ideological diversity

The right seems to be on a mission to expose universities as centers of leftist indoctrination. Too often we professors waved away the charge. We called these assertions naive at bes…[Read more]

Reg that was poetic without being poetry.

Got me thinking though how theism and de facto theism (communism, nazism, palestinianism…pick your poison) cause their victims to see through the lens of a kaleidoscope. No opportunity for existentialism and its personal nature. The universe is instead viewed through a fixed kaleidoscope. It is…[Read more]

Some big No Trump protests today.

Crowd got something correct even if it is by accident. Kind of like Trump….gets something right occasionally by accident. Or when his self interest coincides with the right move.

Enco,

Reg is funny and has precisely what is missing in the great majority. Not just intelligent and resistant to persuasion through popularity but an honest approach to issues that is ideal.

Meanwhile Israel is guilty of being above the fray in not wanting to justify itself. I get that. But it is really destructive. Israel needs a department…[Read more]

Another thing.

As long as the world is fixated on Jews our world will be fucked up. Jews are a tiny insignificant minority relative to world population and yet it feels like they take up 95 percent of the social media and networks. That level of fixation is and can be only driven by ideology. By a powerful and enduring mind virus of hatred. If i…[Read more]

Reg,

I am gobsmocked by your lack of understanding. Such an aberration is hard to fathom. You’re ordinarily quite astute. So i will write this off as a one-off and educate you.
