Good heavens, @jakelafort! That’s quite a Gish Gallop. I fear I would take up 20+ pages of prose trying to address each accusation flung my way.
Suffice to say that both as a scientist and as a Catholic I’m all for the mass-education of “heathens” as you put it. Education is a good thing. Leaving behind indigenous health care in favor of s…[Read more]

@Jakelafort – Yes, I find the replies to almost all the questions are ‘middle of the road’, as if it is setup not to offend.
Is reality a human construct or is it fair to posit objective reality?
It is a philosophical question whether or not objective reality exists. Some people believe that reality is a human construct, while others believe…[Read more]

I agree that religion is bad news and not Good News. Because God is the Living God and very much Alive. And thus His Life should be visible too.
This comment should actually be deleted. But I don’t see a way to do it. Just ignore it. Because i did a better one.

Atheist are underwhelmed and Theist never heard these interpretations and get excited. But as time goes on the fulfilment will become more ominous. And I will report them. I will also report true miracle workers, who are due to be revealed in the future concurrent with the rebuilding of the Temple

Even Christ could not convince people. I don’t gauge anything by my inability to convince certain people. However as more things come true I will still report them. Because while there is life there is still hope.

@jakelafort – I don’t know, it makes sense to me. The subjects were personally accountable to an authority figure they’d made a personal agreement with. That’s what felt moral about it. When the people being “electrocuted” were in the room, then the subjects’ compassion took over and they felt accountable to the “victims”.

@Jakelafort – Here is another of his books that you might like – The Bonobo and the Atheist.
Frans de Waal argues that human morality is not imposed from above but instead comes from within. Moral behavior does not begin and end with religion but is in fact a product of evolution. (Which I totally agree with)

@Jakelafort – One weekend, many moons ago, I backed 5 grays in 5 separate races and collected 5 times. It’s important to watch for out for them, especially if carrying top weight. Of course, I am not being too scientific here but I cannot not consider it if I see one.

@Jakelafort – Of all the things I campaign against, it is the indoctrination of young minds by adults with insidious religious mythology presented as truth that I most rage against. Even after just typing that one sentence I am already too angry to write anymore at present. I could warp a crucifix at 50 paces with a look 🙂

@Jakelafort (and everyone) – While the time honored stare decisis might have been given weight in the gun law ruling in NY, it has been ignored today. Were the SCOTUS judges wrong in 1973 and in all subsequent rulings on Roe ever since and now the 6 judges happen to be correct because they have formed a different opinion? How is stare decisis…[Read more]

@Jakelafort – What makes an addict?
In my non-professional opinion people become addicts because they have unresolved issues that they have not yet addressed. They don’t get addressed while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (or whatever your having yourself).
I know plenty of people who consume all types of drugs on an occasional basis.…[Read more]

The reason that “nobody understands quantum mechanics” * is that it is not intuitable by the human mind. Maybe a better way of saying it is that QM is “unintuitable”. As Heisenberg said, “particles are not real. They just form possibilities rather than facts”. However, from our observations of QM theory it makes accurate predictions about the n…[Read more]
