    @PopeBeanie

I’m a rock and roller and like electric guitars and loudness. In a past life, I was a particular kind of photographer of women. I shot erotic nudes for websites and I ran several websites of my own to display my photographer. My style fell into the pro/am category: a pro photographer working with amateur models. I worked with many pretty college or college-age girls who were willing and sometimes eager to disrobe and pose tantalizingly and/or luridly for the appreciation of men (and lesbians). That made money. I also did artistic nudes for myself.

Anyway, yesterday, I stumbled on this three month old concert I somehow missed when it was released and it’s my new favorite live concert because more than most of their live concert videos it gives you that “I was there and this is what I saw” sort of feeling, which is amazing given the fact that more than one camera was obviously in use.

There is a very touching moment when they perform their arena rock anthem, Martirio, and the fans won’t let the song end by continuing the “oh oh oh” chant that closes out the tune for several rounds after the song is no longer being played. Now when THAT happens, you have your audience in your hands!

WOW, fantastic fancam-based production! I think I see some on-stage taken cuts spliced in, although I see no credit given for them. (Unless a fan had great perspective and zoomability. I do see some lower-rez shots, which is fine.)

Some reactors really bug me, with their personal opinion/mocking of all the stage-facing phones seen in an audience. I just blocked a reactor with a daily whiteboard in the background saying “Read Bible”. But what set me off was his (literally) holier-than-thou rant about the terrible state of (e.g.) Beyonce and Taylor being horrible, half-naked role model for our kids. (Fricken Taliban-like “Christian”!?)

OK, I ranted there, but came back here. I like the “gem” moments added in, i.e. personallized for this concert, e.g. Dany’s solo at 35:15.

Yeah, I think if you watch you’ll see people with cameras off to the side, so it isn’t all audience camera stuff, but like I said it gives you a real “I was there” feel. It’s grainy, which gives you a reaal documentary vibe as well.

I agree. Guys like that have their head up their ass.

Now, as a guy who played rock guitar until the gods of arthritis took that ability away from me, and as someone who appreciates a rock guitar solo, I’d call that “solo” an example of how underwhelming Dany is when attempting anything unrehearsed. We’d call that just “noodling on the guitar.” A good guitar solo has a structure: it draws you in, says something, and then leads you back out and into the song. Like this, which I chose for two reasons: It’s at a similar tempo to Dany’s and also because when a guitar is played by a true master, it’s magic.

Dany isn’t anywhere close to this level of control or imagination.  I hope you can see the vast difference. You might want to listen to the whole video. It’s one for the ages.

Another song ABOUT The Warning (Dany in particular).

and another third-party tribute to the band. This Warning tribute thing seems to be taking off.

Well yeah, and she’s no SRV (who also sings blues/rock well) either, or like her guitar mate in Band Maid, but the audience still appreciates her playing. I liked that she doesn’t outshine her sisters, and I wouldn’t say she couldn’t shred if she had the urge. She focuses well on other skills.

But I take your opinion on guitar skills more seriously now that I know you had rock guitar experience. You’re not the only one wishing she’d focus more on solos.

I don’t wish that at all. If I have a wish, it’s for people to stop wishing she would take solos. The Warning’s orientation is songwriting, not dazzling us with instrumental showpieces. Like I often tell people: judge them by their project, not by what some other band does. They aren’t trying to be (name the group).

I don’t think she has a talent for improvisation. The audience response means little. Face it: They weren’t going to boo her. I can’t imagine anyone who truly loves music heard that and said “Wow, that was good.” They love her and the band and some, I’m sure, were clappingj because they were ready to hear more of the songs they paid for.

She is the least capable instrumentalist in the band. On the other hand, she’s a phenomenal singer who can also play guitar well enough for the band as long as she knows what to play. Her guitar work is entirely written out, rehearsed, and becomes muscle memory.

BTW, she also took a solo at the PRS 40th Anniversary Event, doing a cover of an AC/DC song, and though it was better than this one, it still was unimpressive and when the other female guitarist, Orianthi, took over, the difference was clear. Orianthi is one of the best rock guitarists on the planet, right up there with Joe Bonamassa. Here is a little clip of her improvising at the PRS booth before she had become famous. You’ll note, she’s a fabulous singer as well, better even than Dany.

You see, what makes The Warning isn’t really how dazzling they are individually, but the synergy of how well they work as a unit. That, and their showmanship, for which Dany is about 80% responsible, though even Ale is getting better as you’ll note from this latest concert. But Dany does it naturally, as does Pau, but she’s trapped behind the drums most of the time.

BTW, yes, I did play rock guitar. Not in a band professionally. Mostly just for myself, at home to pass the time. I’m realistic about the fact I wasn’t and never would be another Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, or Joe Bonamassa. Like Dany, I lacked both the raw talent and musical imagination. I’m far better as a writer than as a musician.

That all makes sense. Yes, you’re a good writer. Here, only Jake invokes more esoteric vocab and poetic-licensed creativity. Enco kinda does that too, but I don’t have the time to look up a lot of his historic references. History was my worst percentile score in high school, along with other Humanities. (Just IMO; I try not to declare truths for everyone else.)

I’d only add that I think DPA currently, seriously constrain their work to be purely “TW” in nature, rarely to outshine each other… I suspect we might see further, individual creativity and exploration in each of their futures. They most certainly have learned solid fundamentals, plus creativity like melodic and harmonic originality beyond classic rock traditions, and beyond just-average stage presence. Like Jake’s link to an article on research on how human organs support each other as they age, DPA (and TW machine) mutual support structures bode well for any kind of future they choose.

There, assuming that human and animal anatomy are largely analogous, I just mashed together musical evolution and natural evolution. That’s how I rock, and roll. Please smash the Like button, and Subscribe. (@JakeLafort, I’ll monitor the Sunday School group for any response.)

    Yo —
I ain’t forget, nah, I etched it in graphite,
That afternoon light, like fate in a fistfight.
Street was a stage, collision was script—
Didn’t see it then, but the ink don’t slip.

Heart got jacked like a beat in the mix,
Love scribbled sharp in a moment that sticks.
Organs strung out, nerves all twisted,
Lines got blurred, like fate just insisted.

Sack of Suds, scene cracked like a bottle,
He bit that plot like he throttled the throttle.
    Converged, then split—yo, symmetry broken,
Cupid pulled heat and the silence was spoken.

It looks like ChatGPT understood you better than I did but I can’t tell. I could ask Strega, but I’ve already asked for too much of others’ time.

Part of the price attractive young women can expect to pay in the age of AI is now being paid by the young women of The Warning.

A friend contacted me and wrote, “There are nude photos of the members of The Warning on the Internet. You get different results depending on the keyword combinations you use, but all three girls have been pornified” My heart sank. I wrote back, “If there are, they are deep fakes. These are girls who are deeply bonded with their family and friends. There’s no way they’d even do a naked selfie in a bathroom mirror.”

I checked by asking an AI if there are online resources for creating deep fake nudes and it came back with seven links. So someone who wants to do this doesn’t even have to invest in software.

I worked for over ten years as a photographer in the porn industry doing relatively soft porn (naughty nudes, not hardcore fuck and suck material). But every girl I work with was consenting was compensated to a degree that satisfied her. Additionally, they were motivated by an exhibitionistic aspect of their psychology. Almost invariably, they wanted to see how they looked in the photos and never expressed any worry about anyone seeing them.

These deep fake nudes are victimizing girls who definitely don’t want the attention. By now, I’m sure the sisters know this is happening and likely have hired an agency to get them taken down to whatever extent is possible. I’m equally sure that more will be going up and that the images have been downloaded many times before being taken down. They will be out there forever.

Professional voice coach is floored by Dany’s vocal skill…

    and by Pau’s as well.
