In this by now five year old video, Dany shows versatility by singing in a way you’d never guess was her, with a very convincingly malignant tone. Her guitar playing has advanced by leaps and bounds over the intervening years.

BTW, Ale is already pretty tall in this video and suffered the curse of looking years older than her true age. At 13 here, she could easily pass as 17, so she was painfully shy. While she’s still the introverted one, she shows much more confidence on stage nowadays having, it seems, psychologically grown into her body.

    The lyrics will follow:

    LYRICS:

(Note: the word “korosu” from the pre-chorus means “kill”/”slay” in Japanese)

    [Verse 1]
You don’t really wanna be like me
A false pretension of being complete
    You don’t really wanna understand
What it’s like to have blood on your hands

    [Verse 2]
You don’t deserve the throne, the crown is mine
And I really don’t plan to resign
You don’t really wanna lose the fear
Dare to try and then suffer, my dear

    [Pre-Chorus]
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro

    [Chorus]
And I don’t wanna destroy ya
Open your eyes ’cause you can’t even see the fact
That I just can’t be controlled by
Anything, but let’s see you try
    I’m a machine, no emotion
A perfect scene for the murder queen
You can’t always kill what’s immortal, but
It just doesn’t apply to me

    [Verse 3]

My words are what make everything burn
It’s not something I like to conceal
I have no mercy and I never will

    [Pre-Chorus]
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro
Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro

    [Chorus]
And I don’t wanna destroy ya
Open your eyes ’cause you can’t even see the fact

Above, I featured the great live version of Martirio, noting that it had rock anthem all over it. I asked ChatGPT  the ingredients for a good rock anthem and the only ingredient that Martirio waffles on is the lyrics, which are, of course, in Spanish (given the Spanish title). However, I don’t find that fact makes the song less inspiring. Do you?

Powerful and catchy guitar riffs: Rock anthems often feature memorable guitar riffs that grab the listener’s attention and create a sense of energy and excitement.

Strong and anthemic melodies: A rock anthem typically has a melodic and memorable chorus that is easy to sing along to and gets stuck in your head.

Upbeat and driving rhythm: Rock anthems often have a fast-paced and energetic rhythm that keeps the song moving forward and creates a sense of urgency.

Inspiring or rebellious lyrics: The lyrics of a rock anthem often convey a message of empowerment, freedom, or rebellion. They can be relatable and evoke strong emotions in the listener.

Dynamic and explosive instrumentation: Rock anthems often have a grand and expansive sound, with layers of guitars, drums, and other instruments creating a wall of sound that adds to the song’s intensity.

Memorable hooks and chants: Rock anthems often incorporate memorable hooks or chants that encourage audience participation during live performances and make the song more engaging and memorable.

Dany has a great rock singing voice, but I find her voice to be a bit more beautiful when she sings in Spanish.

Just ran across this. Middle-aged vlogger couple attended a concert on the band’s current tour, got to meet not just the girls but their parents. (These girls have the best parents in the world, I swear.) It’s clear that the girls are happy as performing musicians and their folks couldn’t be prouder. This viddy includes excerpts from the show fairly close to the stage with audio that’s really not half bad considering it’s probably a cell phone recording.

Ever been to a live concert only to leave dissatisfied that the act on the stage sounded so much worse than their recordings? One persistent comment about The Warning is that on stage they sound about as exactly like their recordings as it’s possible to be. Here is a better than average amateur/fan video of a complete half hour concert set at Daytona Beach, Fl that’s only days old. It’s from their current tour of North America.

Notice, too, how businesslike they are. They don’t spend minutes before the show tuning their instruments. There’s absolutely NO farting around. They walk on stage and literally within seconds they are playing and then they go from one song to the next taking only the time needed for Dany to exchange guitars (an instrument which slowly gets out of tune when played with vigor).

This is amazing. In a radio station unplugged-style performance, Pau unexpectedly takes the lead on the song Money instead of Dany and sounds exactly her!

I’ve been taking a break here, as earworms lasting almost three weeks now are still subsiding.

I know what you mean, in a way. I have some of their lyrics going through my mind when I’m taking a shower, for example (“Mayday. Mayday. This ship is going down”).

I am infatuated by them. I’ve described them in Youtube comments as the only band I’m aware of that people are falling in love with.  Hence the Warning Army phenomenon. If they were Americans, we’d call them “All American Girls.” They are clean living musicians who just want to play music. They don’t dress particularly sexy like a lot of female performers, pretty much performing in their street clothes. And they have a fascinating history.

Besides, they obviously love their work. They are a joy to watch. Here is a pretty darned good fanvid of a show only 2 or 3 days old. The cell phone audio is better than average because the person recording it is up front and not back in the crowd. It’s the last gig on their current tour.

So, the band has committed to a promo with a Montreal radio station (call letters CHOM). However, Ale can’t make it so do they cancel? No, they show up and wing it as a duo of Dany and Pau. Pau does a lot of the singing. Interesting and shows their professionalism. The audience loved them.

The Warning is in Europe now on a (guess what?) European tour doing a mix, as I take it, of opening for more famous acts and doing their own shows in smaller venues. Here, Dany comes out to guest for Three Days Grace, a better known band, and kills. Check out the size of the crowd. Stuff like this and doing openers can only be good for The Warning.
