Yes, indeed, there have been war crimes on the Ukrainian side and there have been repressive measures by Zelenskyy and followers to censor Russian language media and I don’t defend any of that. Not only is all of that wrong from a stance of Individual Rights, but also very counter-proructive if you want to get ethnic Russian Ukrainians on your side.

From the beginning, I’ve also said that if Ukraine wins and Zelenskyy demands return of all the arms he gave away to Ukrainian Citizens, then Zelenskyy is as big a tyrant as Putin, since Zelenskyy would be setting up his Citizens to be enslaved and murdered yet again.

Crimes, repressions, and atrocities from either side of a war should not be used as a Tu Quoque or Whatabout-ist justification for those acts from the other side.

All this said, I’m still waiting for either a mutiny from Putin’s Generals or a lone Makarov gunshot from Putin’s bunker. That would be a Holiday present the whole world could enjoy! 🕎🎄🎁🎅🤶🍰🥧🦃🍻🥂

If Ukraine isn’t losing, why do we keep giving them more deadly weapons? Weapons we pledged would not be needed and would never be used.  That isn’t a sign that things are going well for Ukraine.

There’s no place to hide for Russians in Ukraine. I saw a video of a wounded Russian hit by a drone finish himself with his AK-47. The only way to get through Putin’s wall of disinformation is gonna be via soldier’s reports home and stacks of dead Russian bodies.

The U.S. petroleum industry could have benefitted from selling it’s products to Europe without The Russo-Ukrainian War and without the explosion of the Nord-Stream 2 pipeline. In fact, it would be easier to sell in Eastern Europe if there weren’t Putin’s warships trying to blockade Ukraine.

And all of Europe could benefit from it’s own fracking of petroleum, as the U.K. and Denmark presently do in the North Sea, and not have to depend on either Russia or the U.S. or OPEC. (I say “presently” because Denmark is stopping new exploration and is seriously talking about discontinuing use of petroleum by 2050.)

And since all the Continents the dinosaurs and other species lived, died, and sunk into the Earth on to form petroleum were once part of a single Super-Continent called Pangaea, potentially, every Square Inch of Earth above and below the sea could be a source of petroleum products.

And all of us could benefit from all of this untapped bounty if Eco-Wackos worked on ways to use fuel cleaner instead of rallying to ban the Internal Combustion Engine, throwing money into power by Pixie Dust and Unicorn Farts, and using petroleum-based Epoxy to stick themselves on roads and walls.

I agree with the historian Timothy Snyder, who says….

For this reason, he thinks meaningful negotiations can only take place once Ukraine has won the war. Russians are already signaling that negotiations are only a means “to regroup and attack again. And so I think we should probably listen to them when they say that.”

Oh my god Belle, THAT IS RACIST!

As to Robert and Michael’s nonracist opinion (unlike Belle Rose) regarding China that is a really dicey proposition. Will the world have the taste for hundreds of thousands more deaths? More torture? More crimes? More risk of nuclear war? Disruption in world economics? If China doubts the precedential value of Ukraine and the west’s response-particularly considering how much more professional/mighty their military is will they proceed?

Belle i sometimes begin a hike at a VFW. Those vets are kind enough to allow me to walk across their property except on sundays when they hold a turkey shoot. And that one restriction is both for the safety of passersby and their liability. I sometimes stare for a few minutes from the bridge over the Scantic River. On several occasions i espied trout although typically it is minnows and dace. Oh and that initial incline is so steep. Love that shit. I digress.

My point is those elderly VFW vets who feel like the patrons at the bar in Cheers “where everybody knows your name” deserve our respect. We can’t throw metaphorical darts at those folks. And i for one will not sit quietly as you and Enco hurl racial epithets and minimize their place and importance.

It won’t be long till Putin has to skadaddle. His plan to divert attention to the West has failed and his biggest fear, a revolution (similar to the fate of his buddy, Khadafi) is upon him. Russia wouldn’t last two months in a real war with NATO. On CH1 he’s trying to convince the Russians that Polish and American armies are at their doorstep. Of course, the Babushkas who have shirtless Putin magnets on their fridges believe all this. After all their husbands live an average of 10 years less than them and Putin is “strong like bull”.

Belle and Jake,

Just so you both know, I am not “racist” against Veterans of Foreign Wars or anyone else.

When I meet Armed Forces Members or Veterans with T-shirts, hats, uniforms, or insignia, I always thank them for their service and let them know that to me, every day is Veteran’s Day for the living and every day is Memorial Day for the fallen.

What I was and am really against was Colonel Black’s awful pronouncements:

One, he’s fighting the last war, which strategists and tacticians will tell you you’re never supposed to do.

Two, he’s fighting the last war with the defeatist mindset of the Appeasers who thought The Soviet Union was 10 Feet tall and bulletproof and we’re “Better Red Than Dead.”

Either Colonel Black has forgotten his training and history or he’s a stool pidgeon for Putin.

That’s why Colonel Black needs to stick to darts. (And really, it could be anywhere, not just the VFW Club. 😁)
