I’m looking for advice here.
I would like to read a few books on the following subjects:
(1) American Indians, both their history and their present situation.
(2) The Austro-Hungarian Empire.I can do the usual web searches, and I have access to JSTORE, but I have found that literate people can often offer advice on titles and sources (web…[Read more]

Have you read “Hanta Yo”? It’s like “Roots” for Native Americans.
-
Thanks! I have not read it, nor even heard of it. I’m tolerably ignorant about the history of American Indians, even though I’m a great-great-grandson of Mosholatubee,…

Just found Hanta Yo on UK Amazon, a used copy for a reasonable price. (New, it’s a couple of hundred dollars!)

Fellow Unbelievers,
Evidently, at least one local religious pamphleteer has taken a turn towards racial pandering. Just in time for Black History Month in the U.S.
The other day, someone left a pamphlet on my cash register entitled “The Amazing Dr. Carver!”
It was a full-color, shiny, multi-page pamphlet that basically gave highlights in the…[Read more]

What would Aztec philosophers teach about happiness? Their culture evolved in complete isolation from Christian and Western thought, much as Buddhist and Tao developed independently in Asia. There are limited traces of Aztec thought, such as this article about Aztec ideas on happiness, from Aeon.
“What the Aztec philosophers really wanted to…[Read more]

Two of my favorite books are :
1491. New Revelations of the Americas before Columbus
and
1493. Uncovering the new world Columbus created.both by Charles C Mann. Ive read both books several times. What I like about the first, is it challenges standard notions about Native American societies, which are mischaracterized to this day as sort…[Read more]

Daniel, the Austin bomber looked like such a nice young man. However he clearly had no mentor such as yourself to help open his mind. I think he killed from boredom and a lack of beauty and highmindedness in his life. History of course is the vehicle transmitting such values. Home schooling and religion and business courses were I think the…[Read more]

Uh, yes … it’s breathes there a SOUL so dead, etc. But being atheist I took a little creative license and left the soul part out. Ahem.

Thank you Private. Nice words – I think you give me too much credit, but you encourage me to say more none the less. We all need people to pull open the dusty curtains of our closed worlds and let in the bright sunshine knowledge, reason, critical thinking, and the desire to learn.

The consensual world history based on the wrong chronology is inconsistent. Chronology of civilization based only on irrefutable documents and artifacts is reduced to 1000 years and implies the revision of History.
The consensual world history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is…[Read more] -
