Hey, it wasn’t dreck. Maybe Mesuggah, but a fun way of shul-ing me on a couple of new words: “concactenation” and “oblation”.

And a Mench on a Bench is better than. being an Elf on the Shelf. The latter can be quite creepy. They’re like Santa’s KGB Agents.

“Concactenation” sure joins a lot of letters and syllables to describe a rope hitch.

And as legend has it, with the help of concactenation and nails, Jebus did a standing oblation.

There is also such a thing as a cardiac ablation, but the difference is that cardiac ablations are real, and while risky, they stand a better chance of salvation for heart patients skipping a beat.

The reversal of the word order of the Hebrew phrase is a perfect backwards-ing. It is also a reversal of meaning also because “Molahs Tabbahs” sounds like a mix of molasses and tobasco, with the “-ahs” at the end being the sound of a gag reflex.

“Molahs Tabbahs” does not make for a “Shabbat Shalom”, just time spent knealing over a porcelain toilet idol. 🤮🚽

As for clubbed seal, is PETA virtue-signalling, calling out and cancelling Innuits in the Polar North with PETA’s famous nude protests?

That would make for some pointy nippleage in the breasticological area for female protesters and groinicological shrinkage for male protesters and froatbite and hypothermia to make them permanent, sure to repel Innuit appetites.

Or is PETA only “doing the work” in the most comfortable, climate-controlled places the the West? I thought so.

I liked a lot of different meat. Not veal. And when i found it what it was i cringed. Maybe it is a reaction like ‘the women, the children’. What about men? Why don’t men count? Even old men?

The distribution of photos and information regarding clubbing of seals predates foundation of PETA. I can’t remember which book or books but i know i saw pics and read about it as a kid. Yea it is ghastly.

Was unaware PETA frequented the little nudist beaches for the arctic. Yea i think those organizations typically begin with good intentions and real concerns and draw from those who would be seen in a shimmmering light.

I only brought up veal because it was part of the old comedian line used when getting booed. “I’ll be here all week. Try the veal. I’ll see myself out the back.”

While am an unapologetic meat eater, I do agree that the animals we eat shouldn’t be killed with cruelty. Stunning and a steel-tipped round to the temple is quick and a lot less painful than other methods of the past.

Merry old England in the past once required that cattle be chained down and baited by wild dogs before slaughter and England made selling “unbaited beef” against the law. It was cruel to the dogs too:

I don’t fancy eating seal, it looks too fatty. But if I did eat seal, I wouldn’t want them clubbed either. Perhaps a campaign to teach humane methods of animal slaughter in Innuit and other Indigeonous languages would be in order.

That was my point. PETA types would never get out of their comfort zone to do activism.

I am thankful to have vegetable meat. Hope cultured meat is on horizon and affordable too.

There are hot dogs that taste like cheap ball park franks. Sausage as good as sausage from meat. Hamburg a close second but when doctored indistinguishable. Bacon with the texture and not quite the taste and none of that bacony smell. Chicken is not that close but it is ok. There is steak that tastes like cheap fatty steak.

Religion in all its primitive glory does animals no favor. Orthodox Jews and Muslims gotta slit a throat to make it divine. All kinds of animals sacrifices and torture and mass killings associated with religion. And we still debate the merits of religion with the retarded.

Let’s take the ‘Kafka Intifada’  a little further. However, I will coin it the “The Samsa Effect”.

Gregor does know that something has happened to him. What he fails to grasp initially is the significance of his transformation. His world has changed beyond recognition, but his inherited routine of thought continues running as though nothing fundamental has happened. One of his first concerns is about missing the train to work.

But with the impact of Social Media ideology spread and\or religious upbringing, people are transformed into ‘useful idiots’ and\or unable to reason correctly.  There is no ‘freethinking’ available to them. Their mental framework is fixed and any reasoning abilities they believe they have are only recruited to defend the ideas already instilled. The tragedy of indoctrination is not merely that someone wakes transformed. It is that they may spend the rest of their life learning how to live intelligently inside the transformation, without ever asking what transformed them. Their machinery for the critical examination of ideas is never fully developed.

There is another Kafkaesque aspect to it. Gregor gradually learns to live wtih the absurdity. He learns how to move, hide, eat and behave within his transformed condition. He does not spend the story scientifically investigating why he became what he became. Likewise, a person can become extraordinarily sophisticated inside an inherited belief system without ever seriously examining the premises beneath it. Theology and ideology become the intellectual equivalent of Gregor learning to crawl efficiently across the walls.

Gregor still thinks ‘I am Gregor’, therefore his situation initially seems like an inconvenience to be managed. The believer thinks ‘I am simply me’, and consequently beliefs learned at ages four, five or six can feel like observations about reality rather than cultural information acquired from adults in a particular place.

So many University students have become victims of ideological capture. Universities are supposed to be places where ideas are tested by exposure to criticism. If students come to believe that hearing an argument is itself a form of harm, or that permitting a speaker to appear constitutes endorsement, then the institution quietly changes function. It is no longer a place where claims are contested but a place where certain claims must be prevented from even entering the room and given any air.

They, unlike Gregor, are not aware that they have metamorphized. Yesterday’s liberal who said “bad ideas must be defeated by argument” can become tomorrow’s activist saying “this idea must not be allowed a platform” while experiencing no contradiction at all, because the surrounding conceptual vocabulary has changed underneath them. They are now part of the herd. They have disabled any epistemic curiosity with moral certainty. All their arguments become ‘allegiance signalling’ to their group.

The ‘Samsa Effect’ is what happens when an ideology becomes the environment through which a person thinks rather than an object about which they think.

Thanks Jake, I appreciate that. Yesterday a friend of mine said “Reg, I am so glad you are an atheist!” I looked a bit bemused as we know each other a long time and both of us are ‘militant anti-theists’. She caught my look and continued…..”I mean, even as an atheist, you would be able to convince certain people that God is real”. I replied “But I would have to give up my full time role of making them understand that it is all smoke and mirrors. I want them to learn how to think for themselves”.
