It’s just a tentative hypothesis.  I’m not that well-informed.  People in the Middle East often seem to have different priorities from those in the West (patriarchy etc.), with what we see as normal, being forgotten.

Yes, all religions are corrupt and immoral. Granted there are people who are religious and are ‘good people’ but they would be just so without their faith. They are the minority. Religions are about surrendering your ‘self’ to an authority that is entirely man-made. It is this very fact, that they are all man-made, that leads them to corruption and become corrupters of the human mind. People don’t submit to a non-existent God. Islam is a submission to human authority. A usurped authority by people who claim to know things that humans cannot know. These faiths are so warped that the faithful think that they have found their God by the use of Reason and that their faith is a reasoned faith, as apologists like Craig would say.

The various sects of Christianity are just weirder versions of each other.  Yes, you can eat fish today but you can’t because someone had a fucking vision about it. Islam in the Middle East today is where Christianity was 500 years ago in Europe.  The apologists never acknowledge the horrors that lasted for centuries and that even today still transpire in some countries. Millions of humans convincing themselves that they are able to communicate with their imaginary Sky Daddy. Really?? They actually believe that they can do this – talk to the Creator of the Universe – and cannot see how ridiculous this claim is.

Dear religious person – Snap out of it!! You are just talking to yourself.  Your gods are not real. It is a delusion. It is all in your mind. And no, you are not going to become immortal when you die. Just listen to yourself for a minute and give some consideration to what you actually claim to believe. Don’t take it on faith. Think about it. You are an adult. Do not allow your mind to be controlled by their ideologies.  You have come to believe what you believe via indoctrination and not by reason. Reason is what will set you free.

OK, better stop now in case I start to sound militant 😊

Yet another shooting in a Church, this time in Germany. I wonder if the murderer was inspired by blind faith in an imaginary god?

    Reg,

Here’s the latest on the shooting in Germany:

Police say Hamburg shooter who massacred churchgoers was ‘enraged’ ex-Jehovah’s Witness
“Phillip F”, a former member of the religious community is thought to be responsible for the deadly attack.

In situations like this, it is always best to let the dust settle and let all facts to come to light before making a full judgement.

One thing we can say for sure: Exactly zero U.S. gun owners were involved in this shooting, which took place in a nation with the strictest guns laws in Europe.

Beyond this, must wait and see…

Yes, we can say that is most likely to be factually true. Would never happen in a church in the USA where the faithful can happily carry guns into church to defend themselves.

You are going to run out of sarcasm if you spend it that freely.

    Reg,

That would vary with the particular church, and no one can say what would never happen any more than The Precautionary Principle can rightly say everything that could happen.

But another thing we can say for certain was contained in The Humanist Manifesto II:

“No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.”
