In terms of calling out Trump i think politically he can’t do that. Maybe a little when Trump tries to humiliate him. Well, in keeping with the theme of this post, my best during the COVID-19 Crisis was only half-good.
I managed to refuse the first Stimulus Check and even shredded it in the shredder when it expired. I wanted to do the same with the second Stimulus Check.
But I later had a car breakdown that was too much effort to repair and the price of even used cars had zapped up because of the resulting inflation caused by the Stimulus Checks and all the subsidies to the different economic sectors such as PPP subsidies, including that used by my own employer.
I also don’t live in the much-ballyhoo-ed “15-Minute City.”
With the car breakdown pressing on me and an immediately available great used-car offer from a relative, I had to break down and use the second Stimulus Check and borrow against retirement to get a functioning vehicle free-and-clear of payments.
COVID-19 and the way government and society dealt with it broke a lot of things and a lot of people. I was no exception.
I hope I would refuse all of Orange Mussolini’s and “Leon” Elon’s Checks. Like MST3K’s lovable, innocent, special-needs GPC (née Gypsy): “I don’t wanna be linked to the Mad Poopies!”
But our present multiple crises has made everything unpredictable financially. I know this much: I would never vote MAGA/MAHA or D.S.A. and haven’t voted since 2004.
Whatever the future holds, if I have to go down, I hope to go down somehow swinging against the enemies of Enlightenment!
